that brass goes to the “I messed up collection”Sizing 308 last night. One would think you would notice the difference grabbing a 30-06 case. But apparently not until you are on the downstroke and it feels strange.
on a side note. that should have bumped the shoulder back plenty for for pretty much anything.

Could affect neck tension as well. Interested to see what the cognoscenti have to say on that.I was wondering if I could use it in the 308. case capacity is probably a little low since the neck is now made from the sidewall of 06 brass. just for kicks I trimmed it out and set it aside.
just make sure you don't accidentally load it and fire it. wow the arm must have felt stiff ... lol
What do you bench?? 250..280?Sizing 308 last night. One would think you would notice the difference grabbing a 30-06 case. But apparently not until you are on the downstroke and it feels strange.

It would work in a .308 Winchester chamber, as you say it has been trimmed to length (if I understood correctly). I presume you have reamed the neck for proper bullet seating. If not, I urge the procedure. I would also use a rather mild loading in it the first time. The change in interior volume can only be to raise the pressure.
I've had a similar problem with 'belling' a case for loading .38 Special - except it was a .357 Magnum case. Real treat to get it to fit again. (No, not really. I pitched it.)
You are correct. If the case hadn't been trimmed. I would anneal the silly thing down to the 'shoulder' to help. seat the bullet out to 'stop' on the lands (so the base of the case was up against the bolt face) and go to it. I've done sillier things. About as cavalierly as Evel Knievel jumping over a gaggle of busses. It WILL chamber in a .30-06.
With a light charge, you may fire form back to .30-06.
