Yesterday I read of www.ammoinc.com (Arizona) offer to the Ukrainian government of 1 million rounds of ammunition for it’s fighters...
• True?
• Publicity?
• A clever Marketing tool to get their name in
front of the newsfeeds?
I hope theirs is a Genuine Offer to help a beleaguered People! BUT...Offer...? If ammoinc is sincere, their statement of “gearing up” production to follow thru will (in my opinion) take weeks if not months. Then there is/are the logistical problem(s) of following thru with their OFFER... Ukraine will not survive (given “boots on the ground” assessments) for weeks if not months! Ukraine’s survival is numbered in DAYS!

I think this a great thing to do. However, the thing about donations that any company makes, such as to cancer research, disabled veterans, save the whales, etc is that the company gets the glory, but the costs are simply passed on to the consumer. I am amazed at how the public eats this up with a spoon.

RT!! YES SIR!

While its a great offer it sounds more like a marketing ploy to me.
“YUP!”
FWIW Their investor relations page shows they've done 5 press releases on the matter in the last week.

I hope it all works out for them, but why would they need to "gear up"? They produce ammo. That's what the company does...
It sounds like a company “sound bite!!”

they will have the same problem making ammo as all the rest of the ammo manufacturers have, primers.

also this may make Ukraine happy but American shooters who may be future customers, may not be happy with them since they are scrounging around for any ammo too.

Yup! Filling up Wife’ car @ $3.79 Regular. I DID take delivery of 4 x50 boxes of Magtech.38 Special HBWC for $157.+

If the French and Spanish felt that way, we wouldn't be typing in American English. I applaud this company's offer, won't happen, but the thought is noble.

It must be terrifying to know your country is toast because the rest of the world is sitting on their hands, running their mouths and throwing around sanctions that will be too little too late.

I feel there is more to consider than ammo prices. The military jets are flying around like crazy in Tucson as I write. Scary times, as posted above, is correct.

Isn't one of Wolf's biggest ammo plants, located in Ukraine? I think small arms ammo, is the least, and late in the ballgame, problem. Also, alittle late in the thinking of, now, handing out guns, to the masses, as fighting the Russia's, is alittle different than handing someone a gun to say, shoot at paper, or maybe even a rabbit or something. It did get them some media time, though.

They made a million rounds, sent them to a good cause and get some good publicity to offset the cost.

IMHO it's better than just spending the money on advertising alone. Might even cost less.

As part of the NATO effort to help the Ukrainians, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has pledged to send thousands of Kalashnikov rifles to Ukraine. He just said this a couple of days ago.

The question is, where did Greece find "thousands" of Kalashnikovs to send?

This appears to confirm what we've already known: Hundreds of thousands of AK's (police estimates at one time were at least 250,000) were illegally smuggled into Greece from Albania after the fall of the Hoxha regime there. Of these, thousands were confiscated over the years from criminals and terrorists. The rest are being held clandestinely.

This further confirms that gun control in Greece, one of the strictest in Europe, has failed spectacularly.

ETA: This is an editorial cartoon about this, which appeared in the Athens daily Kathimerini:

Kathimerini cartoon.jpg

Translation: (These are Cretans, who are known in Greece for having the most illegal weapons. Mitsotakis, the PM, is himself a Cretan.)

The guy on the phone says, in Cretan dialect: "Yes Mister Prime Minister, we also gathered together a bunch of them because we learned that we're sending Kalashnikovs to the Ukrainians."

The value of the free publicity they've received is already worth more than the cost of a million rounds.

It's not uncommon for companies to spend many times more marketing their charitable activities rather than the actual giving to charities. For a couple weeks this winter Dominoes was advertising how they are giving away over $100,000 in gift cards to local businesses. I saw the commercial at least half a dozen times. To run a nationwide 30 second clip on primetime TV will run $100,000+ for 1 airing.

I applaud the idea but so we know they need ammo. They are not a Third World country. They have an industrial military complex and make all their own arms up to and including Tanks. Seems like some A10s are more needed. They have been slowly pushed on by Russia since 2014. They have plans and have been preparing for this since. I would like to know what they really need.
