I recently got a nickel, model 36. I already had a Tyler T grip for it. My only other nickel revolver is a round butt model 10. I wanted a T grip for it so it will match the 36. I ordered a Tyler clone from Robertsons Trading Post. It is brushed aluminum. I am working on polishing it

About halfway done polishing here

Still have some polishing to do but had to try them out. They are $27 plus $4 shipping. Have a J frame version too

I wasn’t willing to pay $90 on ebay, or wait 9 months for a Tyler

I've wondered why nobody had stepped up to make metal adapters like Tyler.
Seems like a good little niche to fill.
I have been tempted in the past to order from Tyler, but the ordering process and horror stories have stopped me.
Nice find!

Somebody, (Robertson?) makes an ivory-looking grip adapter that actually looks great with my nickle M10.
Yeah, Tylers (from Tyler) are a crapshoot. Really think this forum, and "Hats n' Gats" on Facebook, have really resurrected the grip adapter. They were an anachronism, even back in the dark ages when I started shooting. Really like them!

Perhaps you’re thinking of BK Grips grip adapters?

I bought two from him, both in black. Currently my model wears one with a new set of Service Panels. I have misplaced the one for J frames.

Thanks, Pat. That is likely the brand; got an adapter for a 6", blued Model 10, and those look good as well...that one is black, like yours. Pulled up the link, and saw the faux ivory examples.

A very little niche to fill.
Casting and polishing aluminum is not a task readily adaptable to small productions. Lots of heat required to melt aluminum and the molds for the adapter need to be able to accept the clip. Melvin Tyler had it figured out as a full time business of sorts. Unfortunately it does not translate into a part time business.

Thanks for the info! Your new adapter looks great too! The one I have on my Model 649 is pretty old, going on 40+ years. Got it for a nickel plated Model 38 I had at the time. Polished it up when I gave the 649 the Mother's Mag Polish treatment.

When I ad my old Colt New Service, I bought a Pachmayr grip adapter. It looked awful, did not help my grip any, and made the grips fit awkwardly. I made a pair of custom grips, and have preferred that to grips adapters ever since.

I don’t have safe queens, but the 2 in my original post do not see the range very often. Guns I carry and/or shoot a lot have more hand filling grips
