Did anyone change what they carry today?

I do not belong to the gun of the month club. My EDC is a S&W Shield 9X19mm 8+1 an one additional 8-round capacity magazine. That's the way its been for a long time. On occasion an additional S&W M640 38 Spl.

No, I always carry a handgun when I go out, and I see no reason now to question the make, model, or capacity.
Puttering around the garage today, there is a J frame in my back pocket.

If I drive to town, I will put on a belt gun of some stripe.

Why change? Were you carrying a handgun you thought was not adequate before now?

You sound like me. Except my working around the place (my "puttering" gun) is a "belt gun" of sorts in the fact that I carry it in a holster tucked behind my right hip where it doesn't get in the way. It's a little Taurus 32 H&R - it's stainless, and it was fairly inexpensive, so it doesn't bother me if it gets a little dirty and scuffed up. It's always worked when I wanted it to, and that's with a minimum of care. Sometimes it's concealed if I'm wearing a long shirt or jacket, usually it's not.
On the other hand, when I'm getting ready to head to town, nowadays I exchange that little Taurus revolver for a Glock 19 - same place (OWB, behind my right hip) and I wear a cover garment like a long shirt or vest.
I'm loosing weight though - yeah, I really am this time! And one day soon, I'm going to try the new Crossbreed IWB holster I've had laying in a cabinet for a couple of years.

I haven’t changed the gun, but I’m about to start carrying two extra mags instead of one. My carry is a single stack 9mm. We’ve had several armed robberies of stores by crews of three or four guys. That never used to happen around here.

I believe with the quickly deteriorating economy due to the deliberate actions of "The Senile One" whom occupies the White House, that violence & robberies are going to increase dramatically & quickly. In the prolonged event that the prices of gasoline, food & other necessities soar and are in short/no supply, desperate unsavory characters will become worse, in some cases, even morale decent people may be forced out of desperation to obtain necessities by alternative means. I can see people being robbed (by multiple perps) as they approach their vehicles with a cart full of groceries or followed home & either robbed in their driveway or home invasion. . I see thieves punching a hole in your gas tank to steal fuel.

I hope so too. I recall some reports of gas thieves when prices rose under the Obozo regime. A relative living near San Bernardino in Cali said that she heard recently of folks getting robbed of their groceries in store parking lots.

Y'all are kidding yourselves if you somehow think these things haven't been going on for decades.

With gas so high I can’t afford anything else at the moment

Around here the thieves just walk out the front door of the store and nobody stops them. Then they go back and look at the store video. The mask mandates made it easier for thieves to escape being identified and no one was alarmed when they saw someone masked. My carry choices are based on my desire to be able to defend myself/home/family against thieves looking for an easy mark. That threat hasn't changed so my EDC hasn't either. I am considering, for the first time, of buying an AR style rifle to be better able to defend my home in the unlikely event of a break down of society due to the power grid being hacked or worse.(as LonewolfMcquad described)

Just for today. Got a tanker chest rig for my G20. gonna wear it all day to see how it rides.

Now this backs up Mr. Sauer.

Going back over the thread, this caught my eye and reminded of a story the clerk at Academy told me on 9/13....

I went into Academy and was looking for a particular bore brush and noticed a lot of the ammo and nearly every single pistol was gone. A bunch of rifles were gone as well. I asked if I missed some great sale. The clerk responded, "People think they are going to stop airplanes with .380 pocket pistols."

So I am not wondering how we are going to protect the power grid from Russians or non-Russian sympathizers with our EDC handguns. Are we each going to guard a power pole, tower, and substation? Any chance I could get on the sign-up sheet to guard a Waffle House? Those are going to be important. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle_House_Index) Now I know that post was made in jest. It has the winking emoji. However, it seems there really are people with that sort of mentality as the clerk explained to me more than 20 years ago.

I also wonder that if you started carrying differently because of what is going on in the Ukraine, just how far geared up you were when the US military was directly involved for all those years in the war on terror and was engaged in combat against various groups around the world. Did you gear up when we were involved in bombing Bosnia? If you were geared up for all those, then what happened to make you feel so comfortable to gear down such that you needed to gear up again because of the activity in the Ukraine? I find it curiously interesting that individuals have a personal DEFCON system for their EDC handguns based on geo-political tensions around the world. Maybe I am just old school and focused on less exciting threats like drunks, crankheads, unstable brothers-in-law, and possible home invaders. The closest thing I had to a gun fight was almost being shot multiple times by my neighbors who decided to set up targets on the fence (property line) and use my property as a backstop, and there I was in my beekeeping suit, running like the Michelin man to take cover behind my truck as bullets whizzed by me. Turns out, it is very hard to draw a gun from inside your bee suit, just saying.

I didn't read all the responses, just responding to the OP and the question in general. I haven't changed a thing. I'm armed about as well as your typical Sheriffs deputy including a rifle in the truck, minus the non-lethal options.

I have 2 different carry arms, for 2 different situations. Primary would be an FNS9mm. I'd call it a mid-sized duty pistol with a generous magazine capacity. I shoot it a lot, I know it well. Deep carry/concealment is not a high priority to me as I'm not an undercover detective or operating in a work or civil environment where having somebody notice that I 'might" be carrying a sidearm is unacceptable. In these days of cell phone holsters and such, a hardside safariland tucked under a loose fitting t-shirt really just looks like another accessory. I would not feel under-gunned with this sidearm under any civil circumstances, and short of carrying an AR-15, this is about as good as it gets for civil conflict resolution. My EAA Witness is a little more gun, I do slightly better in rapid fire or precision shooting drills with it, but it gets a bit clunky getting in and out of and riding in the truck, so I guess I am making a slight compromise there.

For "woods carry," which generally involves impromptu target shooting or porcupine elimination, I carry a 6" Taurus .357. It's generally loaded with +P+38158XTPs, as I find it more controllable and accurate loaded thusly than with full house .357s. My ranges tend to be long and pinpoint accuracy is needed for porkys up in trees. Any threat I might encounter will likely have 4 legs. If it were 2 legged, it would likely be armed with a long arm, and cover combined with precision accuracy would be my best chance at survival. I also shoot this one a lot, and this should be a common thread with anybody's CCW piece.

I never have and never will favor anything ultra compact with a limited caliber, or compromised accuracy.

With so many in the no category. I've got IWB and OWB style leather holsters for each handgun in Milt Sparks flavors (and others) for flexibility.

For years I carried an AMT Backup 380 in a wallet holster. Over the last couple years crime has gone out of sight locally. I recently upgraded to an AMT Backup DAO 45ACP. I just slip it in my hip pocket and go.
