Keeping it old school

Love my standard Winchester Model 12 (1953). Got it from the original owner about 15 years ago. He took damn good care of it. I'm glad to have it, but don't have a pic handy. Also have several 'old school' revolvers, the latest purchase being the .44 Special Bulldog.

I am an old school guy and only have 4 new school guns. I have a CX4, PX4, P99, and 15-22 so you could say even my poly guns are old school.

Springfield. Serial number 536XXXX. Which I believe puts it somewhere between '54 and '55.

Did you have the op rod and other misc parts chrome dipped or did it come like that. I've never seen such a blingy Garand. Blingy in a good way though....

Hahaha, no not me. My Grandpa told me a WW2 Veteran had that done to stand out a little for parades.

Picture this fine old Model 1898 Krag Jorgensen completely clad in bright chrome plating along with a heavy coating of varnish on the wood and you'll have an idea what this veteran parade rifle looked like back in the day. The chrome plating was probably done locally in the 1930's to keep the rifles looking nice and shiny with minimal care required.

Where does a nylon 66 fall into this thread, I have one, well really the clone and just love the little thing. It is old school, but it is also a plastic fantastic.

I think that is the only plastic gun I own.

Hi...
I am a dyed in the wool traditionalist when it comes to firearms.
I own in excess of 50 firearms...I own one polymer handgun, one synthetic stocked hunting rifle and one AR15. Everything else is steel. Most of my rifles are bolt actions or lever actions...I own one pump action Remington 760 in .30/06 and a pump action Winchester .22LR and a couple of SKS rifles.

Most of my SA revolvers are blued steel with several of them sporting color case hardened frames or brass grip frames or both with fixed sights. A large number of Ruger SA revolvers reside here all but two full size original Vaqueros in .45Colt have adjustable sights.

Also have a fair number of S&W and Colt revolvers...all blued steel with adjustable rear sights except for one S&W Model 10 in .38Spl that has fixed sights.
My Dan Wesson revolvers are all blued steel except the .44Mag which is stainless with multiple barrels and all of them are Monson guns.

Very nice. I've always appreciated the way the Krag loads. Just flip the box and dump in some rounds. The first time I seen that done it took me back a bit.
