Had fun playing with my Walther (Colt Gold Cup Trophy) 1911-22 today.

Last time out I was using Aguila 40 grain SE ammo and had two cases rupture. I ended up getting rid of that ammo and today tried CCI Mini Mags and Federal 550 Blue Box. Both 40 grain loads.

I started with the Minis and had no failures at all in 100 rounds. My confidence in the gun increases 10 fold. I only shot at 10 yards but I was able to keep all shots inside the X ring of a Bianchi Target. That's 4 inches.

I then shot the Federal ammo and had the same experience. Everything went 100%.

I really like shooting this gun. It is 80% compatible with standard 1911 parts and I've replaced the hammer, sear and sear spring with a Cylinder & Slide Accurizing Kit. Trigger went from 9.5 pounds on my Lyman Digital Scale to 4.5 pounds and I'm satisfied with that.

I've shot a bunch of Aguila in my colt walther and the only problem I've had is it stinks like a dead skunk. Otherwise, all bang bang

I run all conversions, (a Ciener 1911 kit, a AA G-40 kit, and a CMMG .22 upper,) and I only run the hot CCI stuff. I once tried like, some Winchester Super-X, **edit, Wildcats, I think, not Super X. Been a long time.*** and I found I had to pause and hose it out with Gunscrubber pretty frequently. But the CCIs run really well.

I might oughta try some cheap stuff again, see if it has loosened up with some break-in.

Very nice looking gun.

I see this as a direct competitor to SIGs 1911-22...made by GSG

The Colt 1911-22 has an interesting ancestry. It is made by Walther, which is owned by S&W, based on a frame by Umarex...and is then imported by Umarex to be sold by Colt

S&W imported Walther firearms from '99 until 2013 and they made their PPK models under license, but they never owned Walther. PW Group is the parent company of both Umarex and Walther and in 2012 they separated Walther from S&W and created Walther Arms to distribute, service, and manufacture (only the PPK to my knowledge).

Nice gun, have it near the top of my list for this years buys. I see the Rail and GI spec one locally a lot, not the Gold Cup.

I have one that I have sort of tricked out. I got lucky in the trigger department with it having a good on right out of the box. With some figuring I managed to equip it with a dovetail mounted slide racker and Burris FastFire III sight. I really like the gun, especially with the red dot sight, and haven't any glitches with it at all.
