this isn't entirely gun related but tangentially so.

So recently I've been trying to get some things some of which are firearms related or reloading supplies related delivered to my post office under a pseudonym. I've let the post office know that anything that comes to that name should be delivered to my address. So far they have a pretty piss poor track record.

Now even stuff under my real name gets returned to sender.

Question here is can I have a different Post office deliver my mail because my hometown post office seems incapable of doing so? Or should I just get a PO box and hope that they can manage from there?

I have had supplies delivered to me at my sisters and my daughters address with no problem. While staying with them I maintained my home address.
I don’t see what the issue is.

I order work equipment for employees to be delivered in their name but using my company card all the time, never an issue. You should be able to get mail addressed to Daffy Duck at home, I have no idea why the PO would care who received the mail at a legitimate address. o_O

Stay safe.

I don't understand. I know of no reloading supply dealer who will send to a PO Box. And if you put a street address on your order, why is the PO not delivering as labeled? I'd get a conference with the postmaster.
Ive had PO Boxes most of my life and never had an issue with reloading supplies being delivered. They just put a card in your box and you have to go to the window if its big.

The only time the PO Box is an issue is if they ship UPS or FedEx, and then they want a street address.

If there's a street address on the item, it should be delivered, regardless whos name is on it. I keep getting mail for the people who used to live here, 15 years later, and they still deliver it, knowing full well they dont live here. We live in a rural area and everyone literally knows everyone else, and the carrier is from here as well. Yet, there is sits, and I have to either carry over to the people down the road who are related to the people who lived here, or send it back.

why not use real name? Are U restricted from havin such items? Go over their head and call Postal Inspector for their district and ask him why you cannot get your mail. Maybe an ego problem for them.

I don't understand what you are doing. You say "delivered to my post office under a pseudonym." Is the stuff addressed to your pseudonym at the post office or to your home address? What happens to the pseudonym stuff that results in a poor track record? Is it returned to sender?

"...can I have a different Post office deliver my mail..." I can't imagine how this would work as the PO has a fairly sophisticated delivery routing system unless you got a PO box at the different location. And as another poster noted, this creates its own delivery problems.

I think it's possible you have created your own problems by confusing your local PO employees.

The town where I grew requires a valid PO Box on the envelope. A street address only will be returned to sender.

What does name have to do with shipping. There is nobody named grandma at my parents house but if my daughter sends a card to “grandma” at 123 Main Street the card is still gonna get delivered??

I mean if I order something as alababba cslinger Johnson but have a valid address and payment goes through old alababba is gonna get a package here?? Why would need to set up a pseudonym??

You can have a PO Box anywhere you want, it doesn't have to be in the same zipcode or area that you live. Either way, they wont deliver that mail to your house, you have to go get it, even if you have home delivery.

The USPS is majorly screwed up these days and only getting worse. I have two friends who were both Postmasters in different PO's where I got my mail, and they both retired a few years back and were constantly bitching while working there, and keep hearing even worse horror stories now from those they know who still work for them. I hear it from our local carrier here too on a regular basis and she cant wait to retire.

I had a PO Box when I first moved here but could never get my mail, as the office closed before I got home from work and they had no lobby hours. They were only open on Sat. for a couple of hours and I couldn't get it then either, so I had to have house delivery and an address that shows that, which I hate, but it is what it is. That said, rural delivery is actually pretty good, and we've had very few problems there.

Its just the whole system is degrading, and they, like a lot of other places anymore since the covid BS, cant get any help, and a lot of what they do get isnt good and/or doesn't last long. It frustrating as hell to see packages that were supposed to be "two day", sit in the hub an hour and a half away, for a week, and if you bitch, they just shrug their shoulders and say there's nothing they can do about it.

For some reason, they dont like heavy, bulk bullet boxes, and for me, those seem to be the ones that sit somewhere for a long time. "Priority" two or three day is really a joke anymore.

delivered to my post office
Is this a USPS box, or a private mailbox service (like UPS store, Mailboxes Etc.) or the like?

I used to use a PMS for my business mail, as they were much better at handling temporary forwarding orders than USPS.

USPS was perfectly ok with renting me a box in the name of my company, and not my own--as long as the rent was paid. The PO Box was useless for other Common Carriers (the PMS solved that problem, by being a staffed hub for CCs).

There is usually an option to have things sent USPS , UPS or Fed Ex . I usually prefer UPS or Fed Ex because I live on a ranch and they will bring it down to the house ,USPS will almost always leave things out at the mailbox which is on a county road . Sometimes they will have UPS or Fed Ex deliver it to the post office for delivery , and this can be a pain . Usually doesn't cost much ,if any to upgrade .
