1 Mile (1760 Yards) Remington 700 Long Range .30-06

1st time shooting 1 mile. Self spotting with a Phone Skope. Got it done in 10 shots. I might have clipped it high on my 2nd shot.

--Rifle: Completely stock Remington 700 Long Range chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Comes with a Bell & Carlson M40 style stock. 26" barrel.
--Scope: $200 4-12x40 Vortex Diamondback Tactical SFP 1" main tube
--DOPE for 1 mile: 59 MOA elevation, backed magnification to 9.5x and held on the bottom post of the BDC. 96.5 MOA total with holdover. 1 MOA left windage. I have 61 MOA of available elevation in the scope itself.
--Ammunition: 180 grain Hornady Superformance SST .30-06 Springfield factory ammunition.
--Scope base: 20 MOA long action Leupold 1-Piece Backcountry Cross-Slot.

Not sure what size it is. I need to measure it with my reticle next time out. It's on a cliff side and not accessible.

I don't know about Kauai....
Most of whats stocked is hunting ammo, but you can find 06 federal gold medal match on the shelves from time to time here on the Big Island.

The Superformance worked pretty well. The 175 grain Federal Terminal Ascent also shoots well out of this rifle. Hard to find target/match ammo for the .30-06 and I don't reload.

If you do start reloading, id suggest taking a hard look at the 178 Elx/m and 168 TMKs, both work fantastically on the game, shoot well, and from a 700 with their longish throats, I was getting about 2850 with Superformance, or RL19.
This is from a couple different rifles. My 30-06 AI would scratch 3000 with the Elds but case life wasnt great.

I have a friend that shoots matches with Hornady ELD-X factory ammo.

But, obviously the SST is working for you.

Did you use a range finder to figure the distance? Mine only measures out to 800 yards.

I need a bolt action rifle to complete things, and a 308 or 30-06 seems like a good candidate. The 06 pushes my favorite 175 grain SMK just a little faster, but I’m already set up for 308. This tilts toward 06.

That's impossible! The 30-06 is an old, outdated, thrown into the dustbin of history cartridge. Are you sure that isn't a digitally remastered film shot in 1953?
