Minnesota lawmaker proposes bill to require license for gun owners

Another politician that has his head so far up his ass that he has no idea what is going on in the real world. Seems to be a lot of politicians like that anymore.

Under Marty’s proposed bill, anyone purchasing a gun at a commercial business, gun shows or through individual sales, would have to acquire a license which would require gun safety education and training similar to what people have to do when they obtain a driver’s license.

Would he support an addendum that required gun safety education for anyone that enters the Country? If it’s “that important”, it’s that important.

Sometimes I think instead of handing out food, water and money to people illegally entering our Country, we should hand out firearms. Maybe the idiots, that control the flow, would realize how important it is to know the character of the people you let come into your home. Not like guns are the only thing that kill people in our Country, not even in the top 10.

I generally don't reply to these kinds of threads, not sure why I am now....perhaps I am bored.

We all know the end game here, all gunz gone from all people.

I have a better idea, you commit a crime, any crime no matter how small it is dealt with the same way as you commit a crime with a "machine gun". I think that is 30 years, don't pass go, don't collect $200. No way to reduce, it is over and done with.

If we stop back and think of the last crime something like that was used....I think North Hollywood....and how long ago that was, and how long ago the one before that was. Perhaps there are others but that one really sticks to your mind for clear reasons.

Do this one simple thing, found guilty in using a gun in any crime and judges (the real problem again made clear by current events) hands are tied, they must give a min of 30 years at club fed.

We have tried many other things, nothing seems to work, lets give this a try......no. Figures.

Not we. That would be the Twin Cities and even Duluth. Cities get to ruin states. The consensus in my neck of MN is we're tired of these people. But they get the majority come election time. Just like how Colorado got owned. Washington. Oregon. Even Texas might be next.

Somewhere I heard that there are no blue states, only blue cities. And if they cannot corrupt the city with a huge plantation of welfare recipients, then they can do it with a public university. And there is a university in Duluth!

One reason South Dakota is so conservative is there are only two cities in the whole state of noteworthy size and they are not exactly huge.

I'll be using that quote. And it is very true in MN. If it were not for the Mpls/St. Paul area, the state would swing red every time. I don't remember there being idiots like the subject politician when I lived up there, but I sure am glad I'm I don't have to live under that thumb anymore.

To be consistent this intrepid lawmaker will next be requiring a license to post on Twitter, too.
Only if you’ve been properly trained first, and gained the check of approval, with the appropriate limitations on your speech of course.

I wonder what that might look like? Wait, don’t have to…;)

If that were true there would probably be 2 gun laws and they would go something like this:
1, Under 18 can't buy them.
2, felons can't have them at all.
I agree with number 2 as much as I do the gun license idea.
If someone has served the time for his crime. Full rights should be returned to him . The idea of making one a second class citizen for the rest of his life makes him more likely to fall back into bad choices.

I support mandatory firearms training. It should be taught multiple times starting in kindergarten through highschool. Obviously education would vary from don't touch. To how to safely carry, use, and clean one.

I'll postulate...

Minnesota... land of the ski, and home of the crazed:confused:

I was just getting to look up MN's weed laws, now I don't have to:alien:

You're forgetting the cradle of American Communism, the Iron Range. That is why the Duluth area is like the Twin Cities.

All true. But the Iron Range by itself would not pull the state blue. It's for sure all the Cidiots in the Twin Cities that do that.

Driving is a privilege, firearms ownership is a Right. It’s a shame people get elected without knowing basic facts.

People also ignore the fact that car driving and ownership do not guarantee political freedom.

Come to think of it, neither does the Second Amendment any more.

Pass more anti-gun (anti-Citizen) laws—this is done to allow politicians’ ….re-elections.

It Keeps their shameless Faces in front of Cameras.

Pass one thousand more laws against committing murder, carjacking etc.

And then elect District Attorneys who let thugs out of jail with low bonds.

It’s all in the name of promoting shining, stellar careers and “Justice”. $$…$$$

Criminals don’t follow the law. When will these politicians get that. Maybe when they get voted out for being idiots. The problem is there are idiots voting them in. Vicious circle.

here is a law that will work if a gun is used while committing a crime and somebody dies the criminal gets removed from society. I am not talking about self defense I am talking about a unanimous conviction by a jury for gang murders, killing a store clerk, etc. sure give them 1 appeal in 1 or 2 years after that, eliminate the source of the problem. The person who pulled the trigger.

Gun laws have to target the perpetrators of the crime not the weapon or law abiding citizen.

Las Vegas determines how Nevada votes. Sure wish there was a way to fix that also.
