If I had to sell one gun... Actually, I do

Sell the Hellcat.

I'm a die-hard Springfield fan but the P365 is a better gun. Your wife can carry the 365 and you the 365X and you can share magazines. Something you can't do with the Hellcat.

Just read a little closer your original post. You said you told your wife you would sell “a” gun. I read that as you didn’t say which gun. You also said this would fund it. You didn’t say it would fund 100%, which clearly was your intent since the proceeds from the sale of the hellcat would not fully fund the P365X. So technically you only agreed to sell “a” gun that was only intended to PARTIALLY fund your new purchase. So now, all you have to do is find your most worthless gun and sell THAT gun. All is on the up and up and you have maintained the trust of your wife! Win win! So go dig out that rusty Iver Johnson or one of your Heritage pistols that you bought because they were cheap and sell one to keep your word to your wife.

I like the way you think :). Of course, I could have just bought the 365x and never told her and she would have had no idea.

The way I read it, you don't dislike the Hellcat, but you like the P365 more...
It's entirely plausible that spending as much time with the Hellcat as you have the SIG may cause the Hellcat to grow on you.

Having sold or traded off more guns than I could put a number on, I'd just recommend you be sure you're over it before you let it go. (Fortunately it's one of those soulless black and plastic guns that are easy enough to replace if you have regrets :))

Since it appears selling a handgun in your area can be a hassle and potentially costly, I'd lovingly explain to the Mrs that keeping them all will actually SAVE you money.

Actually, it’s one of those soulless fde and plastic guns, but I get your point.

I like the way you think too :)

OK - help me out please

At first I thought this would be an easy choice, but I just can't decide. Today I decided that it was time to replace my carry gun. So, I promised my wife I'd sell a gun to fund it. My long time carry gun has been the original p365. Mainly because I wanted to mount a red dot, I decided to replace it with the p365X. I know - not too much different. But I can mount a red dot and I have 12 rounds in a flush mag. Less than a year ago, I bought a Hellcat for the specific purpose of learning about red dot optics on pistols. The red dot I bought for the Hellcat fit's on the p365X, so I installed it today. The fact is, I really don't like the Hellcat as much as the 365 and I have kept it mainly because I wanted a gun with a red dot. But now I don't really need it for that purpose.

So, I am going to sell the Hellcat or the P365. Originally I felt the logical choice was the 365 since the 365X is nearly the same thing and I will no longer use it for carry. But on the other other hand, I like the 365 better than the Hellcat. Then again, I like having guns of different manufacturers just for the choice and the learning.

So it's a real 1st world kind of dilemma here :). But I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions.

My solution: Sell the P365X and Hellcat. Send the slide of the P365 to Culper Precision and have it direct milled for your mini RDS and Cerakoted. It cost about $150, Culper does great work and backs it with great customer service. www.culperprecision.com

The P365 Culper Precision has on display. It's milled for the Holosun. Night Fission Supressor Height Sights are installed

Two reasons. First, the rear sight of the P365X is part of the coverplate and there's no provision to install a rear sight when the optic is installed. Second- and most importantly- the P365X is milled to direct mount a Romeo Zero. I don't think any other RDS uses the Romeo Zero footprint. You don't want to get stuck with the Romeo Zero. It's not a good choice.

Next, order a Wilson Combat XL frame (about $65) in the color and safety configuration of your choice. The Wilson grip fits my hand better and the grip traction is a big improvement over factory.

Get a few 12 round magazines and add the Mag Guts +2 floor plates to turn the Sig P365 into a very compact 14+1 handgun. My conversions have been reliable. Downside is, at $35 each, Mag Guts ain't cheap and are difficult to install. Upside is 14 rounds are better than 12.

It's worth every dollar

The last gun I sold to fund something else (so as not to piss off the wife) was a pristine 5” 629 classic .44 Mag.

The SxS that got new suspension out of the proceeds is now long gone…and I am still bummed that I sold that gun to this day.

Keep them, but the XL, she’ll be fine.

Stay safe.

Ouch!! That had to be a tough one to let go of. I have to admit, I was tempted to lose my 629 to fund another purchase due to the 6.5” barrel making the gun just a bit unbalanced but I just couldn’t do it, the trigger is just so nice and I can’t imagine better accuracy.

If it were me? I would sell the HellCat and keep the P365, or sell both and use the funds for something else I wanted.

Never do that again!

I’d decide to keep both, wait until she found something she wanted then I’d decide that’d be fine because I was just thinking about getting a new gun… we’d just call it even.
