I haven’t purchased an AR in a long time. I’m looking for a rifle to put a LPVO (1x6) on. I have an old LMT and a PSA mid-length but they both have front sight posts. It will work but is very annoying at no/low magnification. I decided to buy another AR with either a rail or a flip up front sight. Either is fine because all I will put on it is a scope. I went shopping and noticed there are either budget ARs or very expensive ARs with not much in between. The market has really changed over the last ten years. I’m thinking about getting a Springfield Saint with a flip up front sight or ordering a Colt. Does anyone know if the new colts (under CZ ownership) have chrome lined barrels? I’m looking at LE 6920 or LE 6920 R, or the CR6960 which isn’t even listed on the website. The website doesn’t say anything anymore as far as specs go. I’m not really interested in building another rifle. I’ve done it in the past but I would like to just buy a decent rifle and hand it down one day. I would consider other options as long as they are railed or have a flip up sight.

Now that you mentioned it, I have noticed the same thing. The LGS’s near me are all about “building” ARs.

I saw a BCM Recce today. It was nice other than the Keymod rail. It was just shy of 1400. I also saw a FN AR that was mid length with a rail. It was around 1100. It had a chrome lined button rifles barrel? Is the FN a quality rifle. I don’t know much about button rifle vs CHF.

Doesn’t matter. The whole CHF shtick is a load of nonsense! Manufacturers in the AR community started this to sell barrels at exorbitant prices! CHF is simply another rifling technique. And the worlds most accurate barrels are actually either Button Rifled or now, mostly Cut Rifled.

I'll second that, you know for pretty certain you're getting a quality product and you can choose from many different 11.5, 12.5, 14.5, 16, 18 and 20" models, stainless, hammer forged, CL, etc... I have always wanted one of their Mk12 uppers but I have a 16" Enhanced Light Weight Recce w/Mlok. It's light and built well. Ran me about $650. The Mk12 will run you about a grand...
I have it narrowed to three options:
1- A Colt mid length with rail, Enhanced Patrol Rifle
2- FN tactical 2 mid length with rail
3 - BCM Recce with keymod rail.
Colt and FN are pretty much same money, BCM is about $200 higher. All of them look nice. I looked at the Springfield Saint Victor, but shop owner said it was nice but probably wasn’t an equal comparison to the other three. It was $150 cheaper than Colt and FN.

The Saint has had a lot of QC issues from what I've seen from guys who run courses.
Only thing of the 3 listed i would suggest is change the BCM to a Mlok rail. Keymod lost the direct attachment battle. Mlok is pretty much the new generation Picatinni rail for handguards.
But if the 3 rifles listed, choose which one you think looks the best. They are all quality rifles.

Hmm. I thought Colt and FN were priced a lil higher than the BCM. Although I don't really look at complete rifles, I know I could get a BCM together for about a grand if I don't bargain bin all the other parts, but just a standard 6920 is about $1100-$1300 depending on where you go, I bet the enhanced patrol railed Colt would be at least a couple few hundred more....

Also, I would put that LMT on par with the Colt, BCM, FN, Rock River, etc... if you could make peace with the FSB by using a higher LaRue LPVO mount, you'd be in business.
Far be it for me to sway somebody away from buying a new gun though, the Recce style rifle (Gucci rifles as some call them) are very attractive and certainly have advantages. I wouldn't not have a full length Mlok railed AR because they are awesome, but I would also have no problem working around a standard carbine set up w/ FSB

Around here a complete Colt 6920 is about $950 and the OEM models run about $775.
Good choices.
1- The Colt EPR uses a carbine length gas system
3- In general, BCM barrels aren't as precise as Colt barrels

I can speak from experience that BCM's SS410 barrels are excellent shooters.
Never tried their standard grade barrels.

I drove to a small gun store today that had several nice ARs. I ended up going home with a BCM Recce. It has the Keymod rail but the upper receiver, lower receiver, and rail are finished in bronze and it looks really slick. They also had colt and an FN but the finish on both were just blah compared to the BCM. They had some Daniel Defense and LWRC but they were a few hundred dollars higher and a little heavier. Everyone on here seemed to be high on BCM, so thanks for the input. Not crazy about Keymod but the only thing going on the rail are some rail covers and a LPVO so it we will be fine. I’ll post pics later.

I don't really see BCM come up in conversation that much on THR, but I know there are a few people here including myself that use them and think highly of them, they are a frequent topic on arfcom and people will bash them or have sycophantic brand loyalty for them, I feel that THR gives more measured, realistic advice, not quite as many chest thumper brand jobs here....
BCM has really strict quality control measures and the owner run a tight ship, they claim to have established some industry standards in that regard as well. I watched alot of reviews and notable YT people endorse them and BCM has a video on their website and on YT that shows how strict their QC measures are and I felt like my money was well spent there.... I have run my BCM Recce 16" for a few years and really like it.... accurate, reliable, looks and feels good, etc....
I bet that bronze looks great, if you wish, show us a pic.....nice score. If you ever get a chance, check out BCM filthy 14 article online. Your rifle might have even come with the article and some swag.
