Most of the used gun prices on Guns.com make me think they are smoking crack, but this one is very tempting, even with the aftermarket grips:

I think your kidney is still in danger because I have a K-38 in the safe. But that is one nice looking piece (love the barrel length) so I can understand your temptation.

Howdy

I was able to grab this 'minty' Model 14-3 a few years ago for $500, with the box. It shipped in 1974. It was in a local shop on consignment for $550. When the shop called me back that I could have it for $500 I jumped into my car and grabbed it. As I was paying for it the shop owner mentioned they should have priced it higher, but that was the advertised price. Anyway, these things are not growing on trees, if you want it, grab it.

I'm with Driftwood on this...if you want it, buy it now! That's a mighty decent price and may not last that long given how nice of condition it's in.

Oh and I agree with you on Guns.com pricing; a lot of their listings are extremely way over priced!

Jeep blew motor on test drive. Sold it for 2/3 asking price just to be done with it. Sadly no windfall to buy guns with.

Ya, its not a real layaway, though- they want you to apply for a line of credit with a 3rd party.

I think you should buy it. The nice old Smiths are only getting worth more money while your money in the bank is getting worth less. And that style of aftermarket grip is conducive to more accurate shooting (I have some guns with that type of grip and they do improve groups). I forgot what your original request was, but I hope that helps.

I was actually kidding around a bit, but yeah I get it. I don't use credit for guns; it's either cash on hand or save up until I can afford what I want.

Shucks, Ive got plenty of nice K-frames (though not an 8"), and lots of more important things to spend eight bills on- but its a beautiful gun for sure.

Lots of 4" 15s at somewhat reasonable prices, and some 10s and 64s that arent too bad. They are out of their minds on the Patrolmen, IMO.
