For me it's 7.5gr. of Universal under a 255gr. lead SWC, what's yours?
Forgot to add I'm shooting them out of a 625 Smith mountain gun.
Sure wish Colt would bring out the new Anaconda in .45 Colt, just onaconda.:)

Basically the same... except I use anywhere from 8 to 9grn Unique.

My other 'plinking' load is for my H&R HandiRifle... that is 21grn IMR4227 under the same bullet, but I don't shoot that in my pistols, normally.

The closest things I have that resemble a 45 Colt are a Bond Arms derringer and .454 SBH. Even though I can run .45 Colt through them, for me they really don’t count as .45 Colt firearms. With that said, your Universal load sounds really good to me, I love that powder and use it for light loads of .44mag and .454 Casull.

Also I am with you on Colt bringing back the Anaconda in .45.

Acme hi-tek 250 gr over clays 4.8 with large pistol primer of course. Shoot in marlin lever action with red dot , indoor range , about 20 yards.
One of my blackhawks has the .45 colt cylinder but couldn't work up a load in pistol that was ok for the old wrist, that and it is fun and cheaper to use the .45acp cylinder in same pistol.

Hi...
Mr preferred .45Colt load is a commercial cast coated 255gr LSWC over 8.0gr of Unique.
Shoots quite accurately in a variety of handguns and my Uberti .45Colt lever action rifle.
Handguns are a pair of original full size Vaqueros, a BlackHawk, S&W 25, a Uberti nickel SAA clone, a Uberti Remington1875 clone and a Uberti Schofield clone.
I don't shoot that load in my Contender or my SBH Hunter in .45Colt. I reserve those guns for heavy hunting loads using jacketed bullets.

250ish cast pc over 8.5 grains of Unique out of a 7-1/2” Bisley is a tack driver for me. I’ve tried many other combinations of different powder and bullets. I always go back to the Unique load.
I have a Herco load that is almost identical in accuracy as the Unique one.

Unique has always been one of my favorite powders but I haven't seen any for a couple of years now.
When I ran out I delved into my shotgun powders, mainly universal. Found out not only does it meter better but I get the same performance with a little less powder.

my "target" load:

accurate, not position sensitive, hope you can find some unique soon!

For many years it has been a home-cast RNFP with eight grains of Unique. I've found, over those years, that I really enjoy black powder in the old Colt, and my ratio of Unique loads to BP loads was slowly tipping toward black. Now that Unique has essentially disappeared - and I have far more BP than smokeless - it'd probably be accurate to say that a 250 grain RNFP from a "Big Lube" mold, backed by about 32 grains of Old Eynesford 2fg is now my standard Colt load.

I have two loads that are super accurate, both using deep-seated bullets to crimp on the ogive or over the driving band.
>10.0 gr. of Silhouette under a Berry's 200 gr. TC plated bullet @ 1.485" gives 970 fps.
> 7.5 gr. of HP-38 under a 255 SWC coated bullet @ 1.505" gives 925 fps.

A 200 or 250 grain RNFP bullet over 28 grains of Goex 3f powder. The 250 has a slight edge in accuracy. Most fire these days from one of several percussion revolvers using a conversion cylinder.

A 250 gr RNFP coated from Missouri Bullet Co with 7.8-8.0 gr of Unique seems to be the right compromise for me. I've used the same bullet with W231 but my go to is with Unique.
