Currently carry S&W 642, but primarily in the Summer as a pocket gun.
Looking for a 9mm compact/sub-compact for IWB carry and considering subject handgun. It meets my budget and reviews seem generally positive. Suspect I need the XL as my hands are not small.

Interested in users opinions, but also suggestions an this or other models I should consider.

I bought the p365 for my wife and Xl for me. I looked at and shot the Hellcat and G43. I liked the Hellcat sights better, but the Sig just fit me better and shot smoother.
Glocks are Glocks, ugly, but they just work and keep working.
If you're on a budget: look at the Taurus G3c. Surprisingly, I bought one for a back up and it points and shoots as good as the Sig. Of course , I don't expect it to handle the round count that the P365 should.

I recently switched my EDC to a P365X. I shot the Hellcat and PDP SC and liked both but the P365X just felt right. I have about 800 rounds through it so far with no failures of Any kind. I'm using a Holosun 507K on it and have no complaints.

Had the original Sig P365 for over a year now. I like it and normally I don’t give a hoot for plastic pistols. My only other plastic is a Glock 17. Which I purchased quite some time ago to see if I was smart enough to replace a bunch of parts even the barrel. Anyway I think you will like the P365, if it can please me.

I jumped on the 365 bandwagon early and am still a fan. And I don't particularly care for plastic striker-fired pistols or sub-compacts. The P365 shoots like a bigger gun with excellent accuracy. The triggers (of the three in my family) are uniformly good, the sights excellent, ergonomics just plain work. Although I normally carry larger pistols, I've found the 365XL to be a great carry gun, lightweight, 12+1 (w/15 rd mag as a spare). Terrific concealability.

I am pretty happy with my XL, especially after I added a beavertail grip wrap to make the grip just a little larger. The trigger is decent after doing a poor boy trigger job on it. It fits nicely in the cubby hole in my suv's console too.

365X with Romeo Zero sight.

Had talked myself into a 365 with RZ, but my LGS had the X just come in--and the "fit" was perfect for me.
The 12 round flush mags a definite bonus, too (although mag prices are o_O).

My current pistol in that size is Glock 43. With the mag with the pinky rest it fits my chunky hands pretty well. But I recently got a Sig Cross rifle, and I love the feel of the Sig grip on it so much I now think I'd prefer to get a P365XL rather than the G43X I was considering. Good luck with your choice.

I much prefer my pistols to be made of metal and to have hammers. The only plastic, striker-fired pistol I have is the SIG 365 XL and it is one of my favorite EDC guns. Too, I insist on having a manual safety on any striker-fired pistol and SIG gives you that option on the Model 365.

SIG started the high-capacity, compact, pistol chambered in 9mm "craze" but there's been a lot of good choices from several manufacturers since then. Sometimes, the "best" one is the one that fits your hand best.

I have the 365 and quite enjoy it. Carried it quite a bit before buying the Hellcat. Now the 365 is a back up to the Hellcat when I carry in the summer months.

I was a late adopter, but the p365 has been my edc for about 9 months. Shoots well. Carries well. I went with the manual safety model.

I have carried several small 9s and 40s, and some jframes, and I have no desire to replace it with another.

Briefly owned a P365, couldn't hit my 25yd gongs with it, and sold it. Glad I didn't sell my Ruger LC9s Pro.

Shot a friend's P365XL with red dot, hit my 25yds gongs with it, when the sun wasn't washing out the dot.

Carry a Glock 43X with Shield Arms 15rd mags and Shield Arms metal mag release. No problems hitting my 25yd gongs with it or my Ruger LC9s Pro.

Always best to see if the grip fits your hand, especially if you have large to x-large hands.

I think the P355 is a great little carry pistol, but I just can’t run it due to its size. I have used an XL grip module on several and I better with it, not having as many user induced malfunctions, but still not 100%. Tried a Wilson Combat grip module as well and it’s really nice but still had some malfunctions. I Didn’t see the logic in rebuilding a new pistol to fit my hand when I have others that do, so just dropped the P365. But still think it’s a well made little pistol.

If you are looking to replace the 642 for pocket carry, good luck. Hard to beat a j frame for pocket carry.

We have a 365XL with Holosun 507K and a SAS model with Wilson Combat grip. It's a good shooting little gun for SD, no doubt. I can understand why it's so popular. But it has zero sex appeal to me. I'm somewhat a Sig guy, but think the 365's are just plain jane. I do carry it every once in a while, but prefer to carry my metal, hammer fired Sig more.

Had a 365, too small. Too thin for my hands to lock in and shoot well enough to carry (it was very accurate though).

Got a 365XL, still too thin. But I knew that and also got a Wilson frame for it. Fits perfect, and with a Holosun 507k it has replaced my Glock 19 as a carry gun.

Shoot probably 90% compared to the Glock and the ease of carry makes that slight drop in performance worth it to me. Be extra appreciated in size and weight if spring and summer ever come, I’m sure.

Bought in about a year ago and love it. For EDC, I have the XL slide and barrel with the regular length grip. Went to the SIG EDC competition and hit the 65yd steel on my second shot. Iron sights.

I have a P365XL that I added a Hogue Handall to. It's comfortable to carry and extremely accurate.

I've got a Sig 365 and it would be preferred over a 642 (snub) everywhere and in the summer (technically, summer is most of the year here).
Compared to a snub the 365 has double the capacity, better trigger, less felt recoil and quicker subsequent shots.

I bought a 365xl on whim just to see what all the hype was about. I had been carrying a 1911 Commander for years. I took a liking to the accurate and plain jane looking pistol after a couple of range trips and she is now my edc iwb. I added the Wilson grip module and that was well the price of admission. My wife was carrying an officer size 1911 and I let her shoot it one day. She now carries an XL and loves it. I don't worry about how many rounds a pistol will hold for carry purposes but 12+1 in this little compact is nice...

Love my J frames (have 6 of them) but this day and age I'm finding harder to convince myself I'm better off with 5 shots and reload when I can pack 10+1 9mm JHP. This spring my P365 has been getting alot of CCW time and I expect that to continue from here. Mine was made Aug 2019 and has been utterly flawless with everything from plated and hardcast lead to premium JHP.

Love the P365! In a Tulster IWB with Monoblock Clip, what a joy to carry! My 1911 CCO and Glock 19, reserved for special occasions. Have gone the lighter, thinner, smaller route over the years and the P365 fits the bill very well. Man, I remember the days of carrying a P220, P226, 1911 Govt, 686, Glock 20… I’ve shaved the weight and size and feel comfortable with the Sig P365. Enjoy what you carry.

I’ve done much the same, though my 686 phase was a Ruger GP100, and my Glock 20 was a 21 :)

I have both and like them both very much. I also have Glocks but I tend to shoot them high at first. The 365 and KT PF9 are the best of the micro nines imo. (KT is ugly, a handful to shoot, and cheap looking, but very light, thin and reliable in my experience.)

As a practical matter the XL doesn’t add anything that’s worth the increase in overall size, and the ‘X’ version makes no sense to me.

With the 12 rd. mag the 365 feel is so close to the XL the difference isn’t significant. I saw someone complain that the 12rd in the 365 ‘wobbles’, but that hasn’t been my experience when the pistol is held tightly.

Then put the 10 back in to have the smallest version again.

My wife and I both carry 365's. I like it a lot. With the 10 round magazine it carries as easily as my G43 and with the 12 round mags I don't feel that I'm giving up anything to my G19 other than 3 rounds. We chose the version with a safety and much prefer having that option.

Carried in a holster it doesn't matter to me if it has a safety or not. But my wife usually carries in her purse, and I often have mine in the truck console. I wouldn't carry one with a round chambered with no safety in those situations.
