Mostly for load development, I want to try using a powder trickler with my 1100. So remove the powder bottle and measure/pour the powder through the dropper die for each reload. Is it as easy as just getting the right size funnel, or does someone make a specialty part for this? Do I need to remove the shell from the machine, pour in the powder and then put it back (hope not)?

Also, what powder trickler works well? Local Bass Pro has a Hornady and Frankfort Arsenal in stock.

I have and use a Frankford Arsenal trickler and it's a good tool. I used to use a pharmacist's spoon but it was a pain. Before that I just used a 0.17CC Lee Dipper and tapped in powder until the scale leveled. The FA is the first actual trickler I've tried so I don't have anything else to compare it too except using more basic hand tools.

Here's my set-up for a 550, all Dillon parts. I assume that it would fit an 1100.

You're going to have to get in their catalog and dig out the parts. You use your Dillon powder funnel but need to buy an "old" RL450 style powder die, the adaptor to accept 7/8-14 threads, and the little funnel that fits perfectly onto the adaptor. This is my 30-06 set-up. Sometimes I throw charges from an off-press dispenser, sometimes I screw in my Uniflow and manually charge cases on the press.

ETA: you must remember to pour the charge while the press is in the up stroke. I inevitably spill at least one charge every session.

Thanks for the pictures and info. But I can't find that long black spacer on Dillon's site. Do you have a link to it by chance?

Actually, that’s how I do it. It’s load development, so it’s not many rounds. I’ll take the case out after the non-powder drop, weigh it, dump a charge and back to the bullet seat. I have an RCBS trickler, it works well, as does the chargemaster. Good luck.

I went with the Dillon powder measure adapter and RL 450 powder die to mount my Redding 10X to my Dillon BL-550. Locks in tight, good smooth funnel area.
Looking at the 1100, seems like it should work, but call Dillon to be sure.

You’re looking for the Powder Measure Adapter, Dillon part number 20029.
Thank you, that's the part I was looking for.

But in looking at it more, do I need that part? Will the Dillon funnel fit in the top of the RL 450 die w/o 20029?

No.

This might work as well. It's not what I have so I can't vouch for it. But apparently the funnel fits on it too.

I was trying to suggest looking into this^

Its a different die than the RL450 and since its shown with the funnel I'm thinking it might accept it without the adapter. The adapter is threaded to install other powder drops. If you never plan on doing that, you might save yourself some money. I just posted what I have that also fits your use but might not be the best option for you looking into it more. I did it so I could also use my Uniflow.

A phone call to Dillon might get you the right stuff if you tell them what you are trying to do.

ETA: If you follow the link to the funnel from the AT500 die it states that the funnel fits into the top. Viola!
