Sig P365XL or …..?

The xl slide is already cut for a red dot, you get marginally more velocity, the grip is the hardest thing to conceal & having small hands I don’t need the longer grip and it actually fits my hands better. But I don’t want the flat trigger, hate them.

All I have to say is I bought my P365 when they were out for 6 to 8 months and haven't looked back. Conceals well, shoots very well and fits my hands well. No sense (for me) even trying another brand out, Sig was the first and IMO the best.

Fair, I don’t know if they make any 365 with the non flat trigger and optic mount, I see the 365X has the optic cut (which I value, since I run optics on my CCW).

Personally I do find some value in shorter barrels for comfort for CCW IWB, but I like the XL as a whole so to each their own.

Still, I do think the standard 365 frame fits an XL barrel, so it’s certainly doable with a minor extra cost to get the new frame.

Sig will build the P365 series in any combination that you want. But it can often be cheaper to buy a P365 series pistol and then modify it. For example, I prefer the curved trigger because it allows more room for a gloved finger. I don't want optics for concealed carry. So it was cheaper for me to buy a P365 and install an XL grip module.

When I eventually buy a P365XL with iron sights, I will remove the flat trigger and install a curved trigger and it will be much cheaper than buying a P365XL built by Sig with a curved trigger.

What I do like about this platform is it's versatility and ease of customization. You start with 4 basic form factors.

1. P365 with short slide and short grip module.

2. P365 with short slide with taller XL grip module.

3. P365XL with longer slide on a shorter P365 grip module.

4. P365XL with longer slide with taller XL grip module.

You can swap grip modules in less than 30 seconds.

There are several aftermarket grip modules available in both plastic and aluminum.

You can get the P365 series with or without a manual trigger safety.

You can use either a flat or curved trigger as you prefer.

Aftermarket trigger kits are available for those that prefer a different trigger pull.

You can add optics to any of these form factors.

Several aftermarket extended magazine release buttons are available and are useful for people with longer thumbs.

There are multiple magazine capacity choices.

MagGuts offers spring kits to add 2 additional rounds.

There is also the P365-SAS for snag free conceal carry.

There is also the P365XL SPECTRE COMP with internal compensation.

Aftermarket compensators for barrels are available.

There are a lot of options to "Have it your way".

About 6 mo ago, I rented a Shield, Ruger Max9, P365XL, and HellCat. (All with Red Dot sights) I had previously used Glock, so that was not new and being a "Glock" owner would always consider a Glock a good choice. The P365XL and the Ruger Max9 were in my opinion well above the others in terms of quality and accuracy. The HellCat was by far the least favorite just something that I would never consider owning. The Shield was OK but just not a good feel for me. A friend that was with me on this trial liked the Shield. (FYI - he ended up with a P365X and is really a big fan now) One of the local gun stores at the time run a $100+ off sale on P365XL and I purchased one. After a thousand rounds or so, it is an excellent firearm and have no regrets. Big fan of reflex optic sights on carry gun.

I would look at the Taurus GX4. With 13rd magazines, would be in the ballpark (size wise) as the 365XL. I really like mine. Feels better and I shoot it better than any other “micro” subcompact small stature 9mm pistol.
