This is a hypothetical. Interested in your thoughts on this. Please no "why would you do that?" kind of comments for this hypothetical, I ask. Thanks!

I know there are brands where you can get either a DA/SA setup or a SAO setup. So, let's say you have a DA/SA semi-auto pistol. Would it be a problem if you tapped and threaded a pretravel screw into the trigger that stopped the forward travel just at the reset, to where any shot is [in effect] a single action pull,.....and ultimately, making it a SAO?

It may be where your trigger travels quite a few millimeters past the reset, thus making the travel back to the break point long and spongy. I guess....that would be a "why".

Any comments would be appreciated.

This is very firearm specific, in that DA/SA pistols have a variety of trigger mechanisms. What model are you looking at?

CZ P07 with the omega trigger will do that. Maybe look at that as an example.

I have a baby eagle that somebody drilled the frame and put in a cross pin that that kept the trigger from resetting all the way. Keeps the gun in single action mode.

Pic here https://m.imgur.com/y9ZC37k green arrow is the pin. So t know what the red arrow homes are for

It's pretty common with the CZ family of guns, since most of them can be carried in SA mode, cocked and locked, even without modification. However, CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works can make your DA/SA CZ into an SA only gun.

Other guns like the Beretta 92 FS, that are DA/SA with a decocker, are a little more involved, but I think there are some folks that can turn them into single action guns.

I converted my CZ shadow 2 to SA. I took out the disconnector and put in the cajun flat SA trigger. Once I got the pre-travel set it ran really nice. The trigger pull and reset were better than the factory SA Shadow 2s.

Full transparency.........it wasn't really hypothetical. I placed a block on the trigger of my P-09, just a fraction past reset. The block can be removed if I sold the gun. It was more of an experiment, but it works.

It also has a Cajun race hammer.
