Any Sig P365 / P365XL Fans?

The other thing I didn't like about the P365 I had, other than not being able to hit with it, was the grip texture. Very uncomfortable against your skin under when worn IWB / OWB.

Picked up a P365X last week and I am quite pleased with my choice! Tried the standard P365 but felt the grip was just a bit to short, and this coming from a guy with smaller size hands! As soon as I picked up he P365X I knew that this was the right size grip for me! And it had the thumb safety which I really wanted.

Now to find a decent IWB holster and get myself to the range to try this gun out!

Read a lot about the P365 including the number of 'too small' posts.

My hands are medium sized and I've been carrying an old colt police postive with a small bakelite stocks, it was dad's and is over 100 years old and small.

The P365 XL felt 'just riight' to me and I added the streamlight TRL6, mostly for the red lazer, and settled on a crossbreed 'mini tuck' at 4 O'Clock.

I've had the opportunity to shoot few others, Glock, H & K, FN and I can shoot them but the 'just right' feeling is gone.

and the ‘X’ version makes no sense to me.
That's a legit opinion. For me, the "12 round mag fits organically" grip length was Goldilocks. Others differ. That's what makes this all so great.

I have the DeSantis synthetic with optics cut--it's ok, I prefer my Crossbreed Supertuck. In a week or so, I'll have my custom rig from a local tack and holster maker.

I had mixed results with the magguts +2. Works perfectly in my 7 round Shield mag, and has never failed. In my 10 round P365 mag, I followed the assembly instructions exactly, got to range, and the first 3 shots went good, then the remaining rounds all took a nose down position and feeding stopped. I stopped the experiment at that point and haven't revisited magguts +2 in the P365 as of yet.

So what do you do with a 365XL if you want to change the rear sight?

Agree 100%. Sig sells a lot of 365X’s. They don’t make sense to me, but perfect sense to others.

I love mine. It rides in everything from a sneaky Pete to iwb to an actual owb Sherpa. And it shoots like a dream. Group in my profile was out of one at 12 yards. I took a silly pest squirrels head off at about 15 yards with one shot… I’m not a “fanboy” of anything really, but I ain’t found another one that hide able that shoots like that!!

I am a big fan of the p365 and the XL. But today I shot a shield plus and I could not in good faith recommend the XL over it. The trigger was fantastic, I really liked the 3 dots and it shot like my m9a1. It shot so well it made me angry about how much practice went into my other handguns. The polymer grip texture makes it feel like you are gripping rubber and it recoils smoother than any other 9mm I have shot remotely in that size range.

I carry a SIG 365 off duty. It is easy to conceal and a well made, reliable gun with night sights included. The overall size, length plus height is very similar to my old GLOCK 42 .380ACP, which was my old carry gun for off duty.

Two noticeable downsides are:

1. The SIG is heavier. You really feel the difference when pocket carrying. The GLOCK, when fully loaded, just seemed to disappear. With the SIG, I always can feel it. If I holster carried, I doubt this would be an issue.

2. A bigger issue is the recoil. I can shoot the gun, but recoil means my recovery time between shots is longer. I use 115 grain ball for practice, but the same weight ammo kicks more in self defense loads as I assume, it is loaded hotter and has a higher velocity.
My present carry load is the HORNADY 9m.m. 100 grain FTX jhp. The lighter bullet kicks less. If recoil were not an issue, I would carry FEDERAL HST which I keep in my other 9m.m. and .40 S&W pistols.

I noticed that SIG has brought out a .380ACP version of the SIG 365, so I assume that I am not alone in preferring less recoil. What I would really like to see is a 9m.m.x18 Police/Ultra chambering. It would have more power, but still be under 9m.m. levels. It was originally a compromise cartridge and I still think it is.
I though the .30 Super Carry might be the answer, but the velocity is still to high to get down to the recoil levels that I am looking for.

I had two 365s in 380. I was not impressed. I too wanted less recoil, but they couldn’t out shoot my G42 and had almost as much recoil as my 9mm version. I bought the Wilson Combat grip module for them, and decided that with it I could handle the 9mm recoil enough that that I couldn’t justify keep them around.

I’m also thinking the 365 would be a good candidate for the 30SC. And I think different loads with come out and “chill out” the 30SC to a more comfortable level, if it catches on.

Any Wilson Combat module fans here? I have thinking about trying it on my XL.

Yes! I find the basic 365 too thin for me to really grip well and handle recoil shooting rapid fire strings, wide palms and short fingers I guess. The Wilson frame adds just enough extra width in the right place for me to really lock it in. I shoot my 365xl quite close to my favored Glock 19 with the Wilson frame.

Another plus I like, but others may not, is the front and rear strap texture is really aggressive on the Wilson, which I really like but others might want to sand down a bit. Locks the gun in place but the slightly smoother “starburst” sides don’t hang up on my shirt like some of the grip tapes do.

Agreed. I have the Shield Plus and the Hellcat. I've handled the P365. Unless you are carrying in the pocket, the Shield Plus is a nicer shooter and I'd recommend it over the P365 XL too.

I just don't think I should have to pay a premium (more than many machined metal framed pistols and even many complete rifles) for a tiny polymer micro 9mm, and then spend much more to " fix it." That's part of the reason why I am not into Glocks. In a crowded market and for the prices they are asking, I feel like a gun should fit my hand and should shoot well for me out of the box without me having having to change a bunch of things and spend more money.

That is just my personal opinion. I know that not everyone shares my opinion. As long as you both are happy in the end, I support you and it was worth it. It's just not the route I'd take.

Sure, OK, that's fair. Hellcat and Shield Plus don't fit my hands stock either, though the Hellcat Pro is the one that feels best out of the group I guess. For me grabbing a $60 frame is very worth it to have a small, light, gun that actually fits my hands. The other one that works well for me was the Glock 43x/48 and very much almost bought it, but I wanted the Holosun and the Sig has a better and easier mounting solution for the optic, compared to the Glock. That was the deciding factor.

But we are all different, I don't consider a Glock a premium price and a Gen 5 doesn't need anything, IMO, except sights if that's your thing. They are good to go out of the box and better, in my hands, than any of the other polymer options.

I've been carrying and shooting a 365 for about 3 yrs now. The only changes I've made are replacing the sights, and moving the mag release to the right side. It has been totally reliable with any ammo I've tried. That includes a half dozen types and weights of carry ammo, and a "Lot" of my reloads. (Who's counting?) It is "Big Gun" accurate, and very comfortable to carry and conceal. It does require a bit more attention to keep rust at bay in this heat and humidity, but I'm willing to provide it.

As much as I love mine, I’ve noticed several of the same things. I’m better than 1000 rounds through mine, and find it very accurate for its size. I do think that some of the weight is to be expected when carrying more cartridges of a heavier weight. I still find it manageable. The recoil I find much more manageable than the LC9 I shot! Wow! I’d be interested to see it in 30 super carry as well, though I’m still not on that bandwagon.

Been looking at one myself. I put one on my 320 and love it!

I shot the LC9 once and will never shoot it again. For me, it was that bad. However, my brother swears by it. So to each his own.

My LC9s Pro has a lot more felt recoil than my 365 or XDs. In spite of that, I find it to be accurate, and the trigger is really nice for a Ruger. It does wear on you after a 100 rds. The 365 is much less tiring to shoot.

I agree the 365 isn’t great for pocket carry. I had initially thought to do that with one when they first came out and it was just not right for me, I need something smaller and lighter.

luckily I belt carry almost all the time, and it’s fine for that though I much prefer the longer grip of the XL frame or the extended mags.
