I am thinking about trying some of these from RMR in .357 magnum loads.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with loading these in .357 magnum and also wanted to see if I could get the discount code that I have seen discussed on this forum.

Thanks!

I haven’t personally used them, but folks in their Facebook group have enjoyed them and reported good results in many loads with those. If I didn’t cast my 357’s I’d have gotten a few k for myself and I’m sure I’d be very happy with them as I have been with all the other offerings from RMR I have tried.

Per Jake, the discount code is for active THR members with a certain number of posts. His way of saying thanks.

He makes a very good/great product at good prices, even without the code.

I guess i probably don’t meet the requirements, to use the code, based on the number of posts criteria.

What is the “certain number of posts” for future reference?

I've bought a lot of his stuff and never used the code....
Ditto. Never even asked. It's nice to get a discount but something inside says, if you expect to get what you pay for, then you need to pay for what you get. RMR bullets are very, very good and worth the money. Same is true for many other bullet makers and vendors but they don't support the forum like @longdayjake so they don't get the kudos RMR does. That's also fair and honest.

Buy the bullets you need and load them as recommended and you are almost guaranteed success. :)

Unfortunately Jake isn’t making them in .3555 for the lowly 9mm. :( or I’d grab some. I did pick up an evil smiley stamp from evilbay and a regular smiley stamp , but it’s just not the same.
The smiley face was added to the .357" bullets to easily tell them apart from the .355" (9mm) bullets...during packing/shipping.

It would be defeating the original purpose if it was added to 9mm bullets.

Then add a cannalure, problem solved....
It's not really needed. All the cannelure does is give us a firmer grip with a roll crimp in an obvious spot to do a roll crimp. I taper crimp plenty of .38Spl and .357Mag loads using bullets with no cannelure and don't have problems with setback or pulling. Neck tension is still the key. A .357Mag isn't going to pull a bullet with proper neck tension. I think it helps with certain powders to have a good roll crimp - and have said so many times - but so does having good neck tension and a good taper crimp - and you can always roll crimp a bullet with no cannelure, just don't roll it so hard it bulges the neck or separates the jacket/plating.

If you really, really want to see a .38Spl act like Han Solo's Blaster, get some of the Speer 147gr. TMJ .3555" meant for 9mm "Major" and load them up using Lyman's 140gr. starting data for Blue Dot. Wooooo-doggy! :) Works best in revolvers with "tight" throats but, it's a TMJ so you don't really have to worry about gas-cutting or blowing a jacket skirt open and even in my older Colts OP's with half-a-bazillion rounds through the barrel they're laser beams at 25yds. Very blasty and light-showish. :)

It may sound stupid, but I've never tried to save a few pennies on my RMR purchases. I get excellent product, excellent shipping at a decent price. I placed an order for some 115 Nukes about Wednesday of last week, yesterday I got 500 shiny new 9mm bullets. That's better than most more expensive, higher priced shipping from anyone...

Long day Jake is a hero and I buy everything from RMR I don't buy from MBC (RIP to both, God bless)

Fabulous product. I am concerned with loss of accuracy in the smileys though I must admit so haven't tried that particular one.

Then add a cannalure, problem solved....
I don't crimp 9mm. Don't see the need. Resize, neck expand, add powder and seat the bullet. Never an issue. I doubt 38 Special would really require a crimp either.

I would buy the smiley faced rounds just because of the smiley face! ...if I were loading a caliber they were for. :)

Really appreciate RMR! Top quality bullets at bulk pricing. I don't even mess with the 5% discount code. I consider it a 'tip' for excellent service. This being said, I'm sure their local post office worker hates them! They should give the worker who has to handle all those leas filled boxes a nice Christmas present every year! LOL!!!
