Essentially a Pietta 1851 Navy fantasy gun in 44 caliber with a 12 inch barrel. Date code 1998.
The grip frame is designed for a shoulder stock so the stock is technically not detachable. I could only find two instances of it by Googling, both of those were previously sales at auction houses. Any one have knowledge as to how long Pietta made this or own a copy.
Brass frame so the 36 rounds I fired were very low powder loads, accuracy was quite good at 25 yards. Adjustable sights.
A fun little plinker that will display nicely with my Remington Revolving Carbine

I like it. Very cool gun. I think I'd prefer a 16" barrel, but I'd not turn down a good deal on something like that. Very cool.

Do y'all think those kind of sights would be useful on a standard 7.5" 1851?

I do, slightly shorter sight radius, but a better sight picture, and adjustable. One could mark the flats or little notches on the ladder (or whatever you call the slide-thingy) with paint, (just a dot, not a lot) and sight it in for 25, 50, and 100 yards.

Sounds like a project once I finally send my six iron to @Jackrabbit1957 . Soon, school ends tomorrow, and I'll get cracking on it.

I’ve looked for a longer barrel, so far haven’t found any. Pietta doesn’t make one I don’t think.
I’m wondering why there aren’t more of this model around. I can’t find any internet info on it.

I wonder too. There was plenty of Remington style carbines made and around for a while.

Good gun and you are right to keep the loads light. Brass frames will wear out with heavy loads.

Have a lot of fun with it. Black Powder is the way to go. Love the smell, the smoke and the accuracy.

If you want a rifle, buy a rifle not a pimped out revolver. These are not very accurate as revolvers and I doubt that the long barrel helps inherent accuracy that much.

What are you on about? o_O He didn't want a rifle. He wanted that carbine. It's different and kinda cool. I have a 12" barrel on an 1851 Navy, and I can assure you it hits hard and accurate. I don't have a stock on mine, but that stock will help as much as the barrel, IMO.

Somebody woke up cranky this morning.
Heck guns are like women and Like Confederate Railroad sings in “Trashy Women” some of us like them a little on the Trashy Side.
