A close friend came into a Walther PP via a trade recently that he'd like to sell and would like a ball park idea of what it should bring. I'll provide as much info on it as I can. I thank you in advance for your opinions.

1. It looks to have some finish remaining. The collector he got it from says that is original.
2. The metal itself is in fair condition. Has pits.
3. The bore is good.
4. It is very good mechanically and functions well.
5. 1960's production.
6. 7.65 cal.

This is the first I'm seeing it. W. German. Matching slide & frame #'s. It looks like there is some finish on top but the slide has light pits. Obvious replacement grips. This pistol was basically a bonus to him along with the proceeds he got with the sale of a very collectible SS issue PPK.

I sell Walthers and agree with Nighthawk, Bannockburn, and Gordon. $500 to 600 in a local sale, especially from individual to individual. A hundred less in a long distance sale with all the cost of shipping and transfer added. The aftermarket grips are hurting the value more than the condition, imho, and an original factory mag in very good condition would be necessary. Their prices have sky rocketed.

I can see no police property mark on the gun, no matter how much I enlarge it.

After the overzealous buffer got done I'm surprised there are any markings at all. I see the remains of an Ulm eagle mark in front of the slide serial number.

The lanyard loop is a big clue to it being surplus as you'll rarely see one on a commercial PP. It also dates to mid 70's not the 60's as the OP states.

Since there is no consensus as to value, I would suggest that the owner take it to his local LGS and see what they'll give for it. They won't offer more than half of what they could sell it for. My guess is they would offer $100-$125.

IMO anyone willing drop $500-$600 for a surplus gun is going to hold out for one in better condition. They aren't hard to find. In any case it'll be a good shooter and a ton of fun.
