When I was a 16 I remember putting a ruger 10-22 on lay away at a Gemco. A few years later when I was 21 I bought a Norinco SKS for 88 dollars around 1985. I still have the SKS. A few years later, I sold the 10-22 blue, bought the first 10-22 stainless and put a butler creek folding stock on it, still have that 10-22.Didn't really get into collecting until I was in my mid twenties and and on, it ramped up once I was making enough money to support a new habit, lol

Remington 870 in 12 gauge…bought it in 2000. I got two deer with it (my area of NY was shotgun only at the time). I shot a lot of clay targets with my brothers and friends in my younger years and later taught both my sons to shoot clays with it. They’ve since acquired their own.

Marlin 60, purchased at 18. Got it from a pawn shop for $80. I got it home, after a stop at Walmart for 22 ammo. I was so green. I shot it a few mags full and it started not working. The bolt wouldn’t move. I thought it over a spell and went and got the universal lube—wd40. A squirt of that and she worked again. I called marlin and got a manual. Learned gun safety and about my new gun at the same time.

Swapped it off long ago and have another now.

A Glenfield (Marlin) Mod 60 .22LR Cal. Rifle I purchased from Modell’s at the age of 18. I received my draft notice later that year and didn’t get to use (deployed to Europe and Asia) it again until I was discharged in 74. Still looks pretty good and runs great.

I got a Glenfield 22 for Christmas on my 13th birthday, a budget gun based on the Marlin 60. I still have it, but it no longer works. Shot too many times in the last 50+ years.

The 1st gun I ever bought was a Savage/Fox 12 ga SXS when I was about 16. I kept it about 10 years, and it literally spent just as much time at a gunsmiths shop as in my home. After I got it back the last time, I sold it while it was still working.

A year later I bought a Remington 700 ADL 30-06 that was my go-to hunting rifle for the better part of 40 years. I still have it, but it is now retired.

My first "gun" was a BB gun and no I don't still have it. My first "firearm" was a Harrington & Richardson .22 bolt action rifle and yes I still have that one. Unfortunately it spent too many years in a closet in south Florida and has pitting and surface rust on it so it's not pretty but it's still a great shooter.

My first pistol was a S&W Model 459 and no I don't have that one. It wasn't very accurate and the more I learned about pistols the more I disliked the frame mounted safety/de-cocker. I don't miss that one.

I mentioned this rifle in the “Do you remember your first shot” running thread where I said I was 10 years old. I just took a look at the original receipt and I was actually 12.

A gift from my father, my first true hunting rifle, a brand new Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special chambered in 22-250 with a used Lyman Super Target Spot 15x. Total price before tax in 1969 was $242.00 and yes I still have it and the scope.

The first gun that I could actually call my own was a 16 gauge Remington pump shotgun probably from the 1950s. Don't remember the model but I loved that shotgun. Unfortunately my brother pawned it while I was away at college along with the 12 gauge over under my parents gave me for graduation.

First one that was mine, as in I bought it, is an SMLE no 1 mkIII*.. bought from ye olde hunter …. Magazine ad…. In 1959 …. I was 18 … cost $9.99 delivered. It s a 1918 date… Royal Arsenal Proof Marks…. Bayonet cost 1.99 at a local war surplus store it’s a 1907 Wilkinson Sword with royal proof marks. I still have them both.

As with Plan2Live, my first gun was a Daisy BB gun. The first firearms that I fired were my Dad's 1950 model Remington 121, and I believe, his Model 11. IIRC, I was shooting the Model 11 before I got MY first gun, which was a bolt action Revelation (Western Auto) .410. I still have the Remington 121, one of my family members has the Model 11, I believe. I don't have the bolt action .410. I started trading guns at the local Trading Post when I was about 12 or 13, and had a few different ones before I got my 1966 model 10/22, which I also still have.

My Dad gave me my first gun for Christmas in 1964. It’s a Winchester Model 250 lever action .22 rim fire. I have cherished that rifle since that Christmas morning so many years ago and it will always be with me. After I’m gone, I am very fortunate to have grandsons who will continue to care for it along with my other many firearms.

Win model 94Ae.
Worked on a dairy farm and hauled hay one summer when I was 12 to save up money. Bought it new in 1983. Bought the scope the following summer, Bushnell 3x9x40 Lite Site, and they've never been apart since. I've taken deer with it every year since 1983.
