I've got 2 99's... one in .308, and one in .30-30. I sure wish the .30-30 was in a classy round like the .300 Savage, or the .250-3000.

All the military surplus rifles seem like cheating, but I'll throw in the Swiss K31 (and predecessors) with the 7.5x55

When I was in my teens a lot of surplus '98 Mausers were available from $35 to $85 depending on grade. I lived in Idaho at the time and many of these were re-chambered to 8mm-06 for cheap hunting rifles. To me when I hear '98 Mauser I immediately think 8mm-06.
