$5K burning a hole, what pistol would you buy?

Ruger or Smith 4" .22 revolver and the balance on 9mm & .22 ammo.

I guess I’m way too frugal to spend $5K on a handgun…I can’t think of anything I’d want that costs over $3500, and that’s pushing it. Most I’ve spent on a handgun is $3000 for a Staccato, optics plate, and optic that I ended up not really enjoying and sold it to my friend for a smoking good deal.

But good luck with whatever you buy.
E-gads! Same here! Last Christmas came with a Staccato, bought the plate and Trijicon SRO. I can't shoot anywhere near my Shadow 2 with iron sites! This bugs the crap outta me.

Somehow I ended up with $5K to buy any pistol I want. Sounded simple until I started looking. The 1911's they made out of a meteorite? I got to see them. Just a tad out of my price range. Your choice?

Congratulations on having this much in your gun budget!

My choice would be a Nighthawk 1911. But I'm not sure which one.

I am a fan of Dan. But I think an Agent 2 Nighthawk custom might take it's place. Thx
Get something AMAZING and spend every last drop of the $5,000 on 1 gun! It would be the best post ever!

“ One gun if you only had $5,000”

1st world problems! Merica!!!

I'd buy a 9mm pistol of this list:
Laugo Arms Alien
Korth PRS
Pardini GT9 or GT9-1
SIG-Sauer P210
One of the high end all steel SIG-Sauer P226 models
Walther Q5 Match Steel
Phoenix Arms
9mm 1911 Les Baer Custom
9mm 1911 Staccato

Take a look in particular at page 3 and then decide...
I wanted that Walther the day it came out! NOt the steel version. Oh no! The steel version came out the day after I bought the "plastic" one. They would not change it back! I still love Walther's, but come on! I got to meet Les Baer and play with his 38 super. Fun guy. I got the Staccato and for some reason I totally suck with it. Thx, Pardini? gonna have to look that one up

Well, a Wildey is actually on my bucket list for this year, a bit over 3 grand.
Gotta look that one up. This is one of my problems. A bucket list. In my 60's and I doubt I'll hit the broad side of the ole red barn by my 70's. It's only money and they way their printing it now? Why not?

I’m crazy about accurate 9mm’s. The last two I bought totaled about $5000, SIG P210 Target and a S&W 952. You don’t find 952’s often but they are worth the hunt. Because I like the 952 so much I bought a S&W 945, another superb shooter.
Gotcha. I got rid of any rifle that wasn't at least a 1 MOA and feel the same about pistols.

Something by Wilson, likely just a CQB. Ammo for the rest, or maybe a .308 AR
.308? After the last build. Naw, and the poor .308 seems headed down the same road as the legendary .45. I think I'm in the same boat with these guys. I did just build a 6ARC. Keeps me in the AR 15 world where the gods of mill spec exist. Perhaps I shoot better than I build. Or, I just suck and enjoy the heck out of it!

With 5k I wouldn't buy a pistol, it would be pistols.
Glock 19 or 23 gen 5 (whichever if you prefer 9mm or 40) - If you can (would) conceal a 17/22 then get that - $600 and consider the MOS.
Whatever you choose from prior line get another, two is one; have a replacement of your carry - $600
Pocket gun: Sig 365, Glock 43, Kahr PM9 - at least 9mm and it is to be carried with (as a 2nd gun) that primary you chose. $600
Two is one applies to the pocket gun, gotta have a spare - if you wear skinny jeans I guess a LCP is okay, but try harder. $600
So far we have spent $2,400 and we have two primary guns and two pocket guns.
How about a red dot sight? That is why we got the MOS Glock. Holosun HS507 is about $300 but we need two so $600
We have now spent approximately $3,000 and have two carry guns with red dot plus two pocket guns.
2k remaining will cover a Dan Wesson V - Bob and some ammo:

My issue was different…

I shot my Staccato better than I shoot any of my other guns. I could cover a 15 round 15 yard group with a Kennedy half dollar easily.

But I expect to be able to draw and shoot a pistol, and the size of the grip didn’t let me do that, no matter how hard I tried. I figured I’d be okay since the grip was about the same as my Glock 21, which I can run okay. What I hadn’t considered was the fact I had to engage/disengage a safety…could not do it with my stubby, arthritic thumbs.

So my next venture back to the 1911 will definitely be single stack.

Fun read, way off base but definitely fun! Thx! I can't seem to get this stupid grin off my face thinking of how I might look in "skinny" jeans! Not to ... um... I pretty much got your list covered, as does my Wife, each car and truck, the SXS has a kool lock box with a .45 I am fond of not taking care of. The boat has a PCC, a 9 and one of those short 12g. I put that on the boat cuz it reminds me of being a pirate!

I gotta agree on the grip. I've heard others complain to them about having some choice there. Don't think there out.

I wonder how many people replying in this thread actually own gun that cost them $5000. I am not talking about buying a Python back in the day for $250 which is now worth $5,000 but walked into a store or worked with a customer builder or shop and put $5,000 cash on the barrel head.

I know lots of people don't see value at that price point but I am actually more interested in hearing from people who actually did it and why they did and are they happy that they did.
