$5K burning a hole, what pistol would you buy?

Get something AMAZING and spend every last drop of the $5,000 on 1 gun! It would be the best post ever!

“ One gun if you only had $5,000”

1st world problems! Merica!!!

America is crumbling. But I just watched a Lambo Merc drive past my parked brand new truck. Kind of a weird perspective.

Op: Also consider Guncrafter Industries for a single stack.

GIs are good guns. The car reference is a good one. My best friend used to own a 458 Italia. We used to drive around it in all the time. It was an amazing machine. I mean it is hard to describe it but it was mind blowing. I have driven BMW M5, M3 and M2 Competitions at the BMS Performance Center in SC so its not as if I have not driven an high performance car but they are nothing compared to the Ferrari.

On paper they look close. The specs are not that different. The law of diminishing returns tells you the M3 is 95% of what the Ferrari is at a 3rd of the price but when you get in the cars you know where the money went. High end guns are the same. Look at a CZ Shadow 2 and then compare it to a Swiss made Phoenix. They are both CZ75 platform guns but one is a Ferrari the other is a Corvette at best. It does not make the Shadow 2 bad. In fact it is amazing for the price point but it still is what it is.

When you get to a certain price point you are paying double if not triple for % differences only the buyer can tell you if its worth it. People who would never consider buying one even if they had the money simply don't see the same thing a buyer does. Neither one is wrong it is a matter of perspective. All I can say to the OP is that if there is a particular gun that moves you and you have the means...

Get the Sand Viper - TT is working with Ultimate Ammunition to make the worlds most powerful 9mm - called the 9mm Magnum
View attachment 1081265

The proposed 9mm Magnum will not be the most powerful 9mm on earth.

It's less powerful than the 9X23 Winchester; 125 grain bullet at 1450 fps from a 5" barrel.
https://www.shootingtimes.com/editorial/cartridge-review-9x23-winchester/99601

It's less powerful than another 9mm-length round, the 356 TSW; 124 grain bullets at 1391 and 1432 fps from a 4.5" barrel. (It's rated at 1450 fps with a 124 grain bullet.)
https://gunsmagazine.com/discover/the-356-tsw/

It's less powerful than existing 9 Major ammo.

With 5k I wouldn't buy a pistol, it would be pistols.
Glock 19 or 23 gen 5 (whichever if you prefer 9mm or 40) - If you can (would) conceal a 17/22 then get that - $600 and consider the MOS.
Whatever you choose from prior line get another, two is one; have a replacement of your carry - $600
Pocket gun: Sig 365, Glock 43, Kahr PM9 - at least 9mm and it is to be carried with (as a 2nd gun) that primary you chose. $600
Two is one applies to the pocket gun, gotta have a spare - if you wear skinny jeans I guess a LCP is okay, but try harder. $600
So far we have spent $2,400 and we have two primary guns and two pocket guns.
How about a red dot sight? That is why we got the MOS Glock. Holosun HS507 is about $300 but we need two so $600
We have now spent approximately $3,000 and have two carry guns with red dot plus two pocket guns.
2k remaining will cover a Dan Wesson V - Bob and some ammo:

Quality over quantity..

Quality over quantity..

I certainly won’t argue this. But at some point, quality can become excessive and expensive.

A $600 Glock or Walther is plenty quality for a HD or SD gun, but definitely not a collector piece.

I guess there are many here who would shoot a $5K pistol at their range sessions…I wouldn’t. Just me. Again, I’m a frugal guy. I shoot the heck out of my $400-600 guns, not so much for my $700-1600 guns. Probably be less as they go up in price.

I did shoot that Staccato a fair amount trying to get used to it. But after a lot of dry fire draws and pistol manipulation, plus 400+ rounds, I sold it as I couldn’t justify owning it.

I look ahead to my future…not sure my heirs would appreciate a $5K handgun. So I’ll pass on some quality working guns they’re used to shooting and enjoying. But that’s me.

Oh heck yeah! Super awesome! Thx for pics! How much adjustment can you give that trigger? I'm a real sucker for slide cuts. Nice! Now I know at least two new things: What a Pardini GT9 looks like and! what new pennies look like! If ya don't mind, how much does one of those set a guy back?
I wonder how many people replying in this thread actually own gun that cost them $5000. I am not talking about buying a Python back in the day for $250 which is now worth $5,000 but walked into a store or worked with a customer builder or shop and put $5,000 cash on the barrel head.

I know lots of people don't see value at that price point but I am actually more interested in hearing from people who actually did it and why they did and are they happy that they did.
I think that's a fine hijacking. Good points. But this is more a fantasy come true kinda idea.

Here’s a few hypothetical $5K purchases that I would do…. In no particular order

- Les Baer UTC in 45, some Wilson ETM mags, and bulk ammo. Or two Les Baers, because more.

- Nighthawk Custom Trooper in 45, rest on mags and ammo

- Alchemy Custom Prime in 45, rest on mags and ammo

- A Langdon or Wilson Beretta or maybe one of each

That’s just a few off the top of my head. I’d be absolutely stoked to have any of em.

The only other pistol I even remotely have a use for (since I already have plenty) is a small 380 like a Ruger- only because I need a smaller gun to keep in my MMA shorts when I go to and from the gym, in the tiny pocket meant for a mouth guard.

Ultimately buy what is going to bring a smile. Like watches, audio and many more areas people can enjoy fine craftsmanship.

My issue was different…

I shot my Staccato better than I shoot any of my other guns. I could cover a 15 round 15 yard group with a Kennedy half dollar easily.

But I expect to be able to draw and shoot a pistol, and the size of the grip didn’t let me do that, no matter how hard I tried. I figured I’d be okay since the grip was about the same as my Glock 21, which I can run okay. What I hadn’t considered was the fact I had to engage/disengage a safety…could not do it with my stubby, arthritic thumbs.

So my next venture back to the 1911 will definitely be single stack.
Try a StaccatoC

Fun read, way off base but definitely fun! Thx! I can't seem to get this stupid grin off my face thinking of how I might look in "skinny" jeans! Not to ... um... I pretty much got your list covered, as does my Wife, each car and truck, the SXS has a kool lock box with a .45 I am fond of not taking care of. The boat has a PCC, a 9 and one of those short 12g. I put that on the boat cuz it reminds me of being a pirate!

I gotta agree on the grip. I've heard others complain to them about having some choice there. Don't think there out.

Quality over quantity..

I stand by my initial post as it did include a Dan Wesson 1911 and is reflective of what I'd do with 5k - if I didn't have those guns (I do).
I've got a Ed Brown Special Forces (most expensive handgun I own) and a Dan Wesson Valor (2nd most expensive)

If you want a single approximate 5k handgun, here ya go:
https://www.wilsoncombat.com/hunter/
10mm with integral compensator and you still have enough $$$ left for one of the guns (other than the DW) on my initial post.

There's at least four adjustments you can do.

More details here: https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/pardini-gt-trigger-adjustment.1588551/

The pennies are euro pennies and since I'm italian my Pardini GT9-1 is factory chambered for the 9x21 IMI cartridge :D. 9x19 Luger pistols were finally declared legal for Italian citizens in January 2022 and are now available in gun shops (I've not purchased a 9x19 pistol yet but I'll do in the next future). Obviously the italian 9mm pistols destined for export are all chambered for the 9x19 Luger cartridge.

The price of a brand new Pardini GT9-1 is $3000 in the USA, so you are saving $2000 for the ammo :D.
Here is the official Pardini USA website: https://www.pardiniguns.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=863
