I was just curious to hear if any of THR members have been EDCing the 30SC. It’s a interesting caliber for sure. I was sitting on the sidelines for now. If you are any opinions and ammo availability issues?

no, but find it interesting. wonder how fast it will be going when someone chambers it in a carbine with an 18 or 20 inch barrel.

Our local Sportsman's has sold a few guns, and has a modest cross-section of loads available. I might have an interest if they dropped it into something like a 1.5 stack P239 (12+1?), but nothing on the striker platform market will really interest me.

I guess I should get one since those devastating 9mm bullets will blow lungs clean out of a human and will soon be outlawed. Anyone seen these 30 SC guns with 3 shot magazines, thumb safety, biometric safety, and double pull for one shot triggers?

Seriously, I'm not interested in the 30 SC because it doesn't do anything better than the 9mm. (except capacity, which is good for little guns)

Until some offers a CCW gun built specifically for the 30 SC, for an extra round or two it is not of much interest.

No interest at all. The 9MM does it all better in gun's already made for all kinds of carry. The .380 is better out of the gate with plenty of gun's to shoot it also.

I actually saw 30 Super Carry for sale on the ammo shelf the other day.

I have zero interest in it, so don't even remember the brand or price. I'm barely comfortable carrying 9mm, so no way I'm going to anything smaller.

Exactly; reducing the width of the slide and frame, rather than adding capacity to an existing 9MM design, is what will make me pay attention. Out-slimming a .380 could be a compelling argument for certain types of carry.

I'd switch if Sig released the P365 in it. 15 rounds in the X model would be nice
That would make more sense than the underpowered .380 chambered P365 that Sig released.

This makes the most sense to me. Make an even smaller and lighter CCW pistol. Use a lighter grain bullet to insure sufficient velocity for reliable expansion when going through heavy clothing. It wouldn't pack quite as much punch as a 9mm, but it could be even more concealable. And it would also be beneficial for people with weaker and/or arthritic wrists. This could be a great gun for Grandma.

There's only like the one firearm, and I've not seen one, nor the ammo at my LGS.
Ian waxed poetic on the one he was given.
16 rounds in a footprint about the same as a 365XL.

Color me disinclined to be an "early adopter." YMMV

I would be interested in a few things 1 I think you could do a double stack double feed magazine without going too much thicker than a 9mm and get capacities approaching the 5.7 in a more potent cartridge in a full size handgun.

2 how this thing reacts to suppressors.

3 PCC's and SBR/braced pistol performance. I would love to see some madman come up with something for Karl and Ian to run through a brutality with so I can live vicariously through them.

I get that this is intended for the subcompact frame micro 9 segment but it feels like there's some more potential there in the larger guns too.

I’ll stick with tried and true calibers, but that’s not to say that 30 SC is ineffective or bad. Just not something I’m willing to personally pursue at this time.

Haven’t seen any ammo or firearms in 30 SC in my part of the world, either.

I don’t have one yet, but I’m interested in the potential of what could be with .30SC.

I’ve said it before, but what I think would be very cool is if you could, by utilizing a frame the size of something like a 2011 in .45ACP engineer a quadrupole stacked magazine holding over 30 rounds of .30SC in a flush fit magazine.

Also as I believe it was MCB who said it before, a .30SC 8 shooter using moonclips and with an appropriately abbreviated length of cylinder and frame would be interesting.

I’m carrying mine!
Haven’t had time to set up the chronograph and run some more hand load powder work ups.
If not in a belt holster, it’s wearing a light and riding in my car door panel...

I’m right fond of it!
I’m carrying Federal HST 100gr factory loads.
Profoundly accurate!

In Ian's video:

He does bring up the notion of a PCC, but felt that, as the market for SMG is pretty thin, the PCC market would be equally slow.

Man look how small that magazine for the mas 38 is it's almost toy like.

I wonder if you could get an eight or ten round magazine into a flush fit magazine on a sporting rifle stocked carbine.

Make a 10/30

I honestly don't get it right now.

I can barely find mainline calibers to keep my range practice up. I can't count on finding 9mm 22lr and 38 special has become a thing of whispered legend!

If I want to practice often with .30sc and keep a small stock at home do you think that is very likely?

Get the flagship calibers back in stock and at decent prices adjusted for brandonflation. Then we can talk about launching new ones!
