I really can't explain why but I've wanted a Buckmark for a long time and have finally decided to pick one up. I'm leaning toward the Medallion simply because I'm a wood and steel kind of guy, but superior function trumps looks so I'm open to suggestions. I don't know much about them, and while it's great to have so many choices it makes settling on one particular model difficult-Practical, standard, camper, lite, plus, contour, micro etc etc...urx udx ufx grip options-well, let's just say it can get bewildering.

Is it safe to assume aside from barrel length and contour, grip and sight options, the internals are the same?

I don’t own a BuckMark but I have friends that do. I have a weakness for quality 22 handguns. I don’t know of anything wrong with a BuckMark. The ones I’ve shot preformed flawlessly. Pick the one you like best and go for it

Yes the are all the same other than what is different!:)

The insides

The rest is all the Grips, not all grips fit all guns, barrels sights etc.
I have the Rosewood UDX, which is nice but I can not get any rubber grips for it as the do not fit because of the finger grooves

You need to print out or study all the specs and pictures to see the minor differences

Plus you are limited to what is actually available!

I have an older generic-looking Buck Mark that I got used. It's a great shooter, as good as my Ruger Marks.

My friend liked it so much that he bought a brand-new one for himself.

The two pistols look very different and come from different decades, but they feel and shoot the same.

Chose based on your intended purpose, and by that I mean chose the frame you can actually change stocks on. I own a UFX Micro Bull that offers little adaptability in this area and will forever hamper its ability to adapt to serious target work.

I've thought about getting buying that barrel.

Have you ever had any cycling issues that you thought could be caused by the shorter barrel?

My first .22 pistol was a Ruger KMK514 which has been a stellar pistol.

I decided that I needed to pick up some of the other "icon" .22's along the way, one of which being a Buckmark. Can't remember the exact model at the moment...

It's also been a good pistol but I do like my Ruger better (maybe, simply because I have much more history with it)

How bout a family photo.

Some of these are gone now because they just didn't "scratch the itch"

Only cycling issues I experienced were magazine spring and chamber related. The BuckMark, mine at least, had a rather hard transition which I gently eased over.

This, pretty much. All good info.

I was bewildered by all the different model choices also at first. But at the end of the day, what you will probably actually run into easily will be a Camper or Standard model. So see how you feel about those two and if one might fit the bill for you.

I own a couple of Buckmarks, but haven't shot them much. They seem fine and haven't given me any problems. I guess that's why they're still around.

Keep an eye on a couple of hex screws, I understand they will make the gun unreliable once they loosen up. Also maybe invest in a couple of recoil buffers if you plan on shooting the burjeeds out of it.

Thanks guys, I sure appreciate your help!

It will be used mostly for target work and training my granddaughter now that she's shown an interest in taking up the sport. What is it about the frame that prevents you from being able to change the grips?

Good choice for brand-new shooters. Accurate enough to be fun and give confidence. :)

It's been awhile, but I believe that the 3 grip styles (UDX, URX, base Camper) are not interchangeable.

You'll have to research for yourself which of the 20+ models is which. If I am off base here, somebody please chime in.

Other than that - slight differences. Integral rail vs. not, fiber optic vs. post front sight, slabside barrel vs. not. Things of that nature.

This right here:

It’s UDX, URX, and UFX for designations but they simply don’t index with other style frames. Striplin Custom does make a conversion for URX to 1911 style grips if that’s an interest, also available for the older standard frame if you have one of that vintage.

Here is mine. Very happy with it.
This one is mine, with his big brother. Note the resemblance.:D
I also am very happy with it. It outshoots my MKiii from a bag.

I prefer the URX grips. That's what are on both of mine. One is open sights and the other sports a red dot.

I have a pair of flat-side barrel models built in 91-92; feeding with some bare-lead bullet ammo (Automatch for example) can be problematic. With plated-bullet ammo (even Golden Bullet!) they are accurate and reliable. The Tandemkross Gear Box is a good addition and easy to install.
