Mosin Nagant with the steel but plate, that was the worst and I've fired a lot more powerful guns but this one just stings.
The M6 Scout over/under 410/22 is similar. The 410 recoils harder than any 20 gauge I have ever shot. Really short stock and a slightly funky hold to squeeze the “trigger” makes it painful for me.Used to think it was a 12 ga. Rossi single-shot SG with slugs, but then I shot a friends .410 single-shot. Seriously. It has so much drop at the comb that it practically slapped me in the forehead! My little Rossi single-shot 20 ga. isn't much fun either with any type of "standard" shell, let alone 3" mags. My .300 Mag is a pussycat comparatively.
I had a .380 and a .32. The .32 wasn't as snappy, but still didn't feed worth a damn. Yup, love the Luger- very smooth and reliable with good magazines..
You should try one of my .32s or better yet .22s. A world of difference. I disliked the .380 so much I traded it for a Luger. I got the best end of the deal by a mile.
Took a turkey left handed with a 3" 2 1/4 oz Activ. Recoil in my 1300 Win turned out to be 55lbs. I landed up with 3 loose teeth when my thumb smacked me in the mouth. Years later all of my upper teeth started to get loose. I wear dentures now.
Shot a Ruger #1 in 458 once but it wasn't as bad as a hot 45-70 out of a H&R Handi-rifle. That one was pretty rough.
Ah! Forgot one. Some other tales of injury reminded me.
The Browning High Power.
No, really. I no longer have a scar, because it has been years but because I was around enough GP35 people I HAD to shoot them, a lot. Not a round or two, but hours of drills with them. If I grip it right, like you should, to control recoil etc properly, the hammer comes back and puts a rectangular hole in the top of the web of my hand. Then the blood comes out. If I grip it oddly, it only just kisses that, and it doesn't take much shooting (esp with a scar from before!) to make that hurt.
Commander/Rowel hammer? Still contacts, just whacks instead of putting a hole, but similar, I can end up with road-rash looking damage, spots of blood coming out over a big rectangular area. I am consistent so do that for a couple hours and it makes a pattern, you can count the grooves in the hammer.
I shoot, as stated, a LOT of things. Cannot, cannot shoot a high power without there being medical treatment afterwards. This makes me sad as maybe the prettiest GUN I have ever seen was a former friend's GP35 (all customized) and it got for reasons left to his wife when he split for another woman, then he went crazy enough we all lost touch and the ex-wife we still know. So some years post-divorce, I am offered this for... a song. I name my price but explicitly not what it's worth, just a few hundred bucks. I sat on it for 2 weeks before I decided: nope, can't do it, helped her sell it for what it was worth instead.
Say, that 'minds me... I sprained or dislocated my thumb shooting buckshot out of a pistol-grip-only Mossberg 590. That hurt for a couple years. I put the buttstock back on LOLSo far, .357 mag out of a Bond Arms derringer, and to be frank my old school 12 gauge riot gun. Actually the latter is fun, but a lot of recoil.
2 rounds of trap with an Auto-5 while wearing just a tee shirt was enough for me. Bruised for a week.
