The USPSA Nationals that were scheduled to be held October 11-17th at the Cameo Shooting Sports and Educational Complex in Palisades, CO have been rescheduled to the CMP Marksmanship Park in Talladega, AL.

After the recent 2 Gun Nationals that were held at the Cameo Range, The Colorado Parks and Wildlife that operates the state run facility implemented new procedures with regards to an affidavit for "Compliance with the Law" Declaration that all competitors would have to, under perjury, complete. USPSA made the decision to refuse to participate in this and choose to reschedule and relocate Nationals.

The real meaning is that you would have to swear you are not bringing full capacity and extended magazines to Colorado.

Colorado has been turning into quite the shirthole (IMO) since the CA takeover of Boulder in the 80s. I last worked there from 2011 to 2016 and was SO glad (kinda) when Micron threw a bunch of us older/overpaid engineers out in the street. (then complained when they went and hired a bunch of kids fresh out of college who couldn't design their way out of a paper bag...)

No offense to you normal folks living in/stuck in CO of course. :)

It affects IDPA less because the majority of the sport is still limited to 10 rounds or less, but still sucks because most people are using larger mags than 10. At least there is a grandfather clause.

While I prefer ESP with a 10 round single stack and a Barney, my colleagues shoot SSP double stacks with 11 and 10 in bigger magazines.... bought since 2013.

This is the first time I've heard the Colorado mag limit (15rnd) being enforced in any manner. Stupid thing is, every Colorado LGS and gun show are selling Glock and AR mags exceeding the 15rnd limit. I attended the ginormis 500 table Denver gun show last month. There was a BATF table with three agents. And at least 20 booths openly selling 17rnd to 33rnd Glock mags and 20/30/40 round AR mags. Couple booths had the 50round drums. At Colorado gun shows, Colorado LGSs and on the Colorado Armslist.com there are hundreds of guns available with mags exceeding the 15rnd limit.

I think the answer is here "The Colorado Parks and Wildlife that operates the state run facility."
It seems that game wardens all over are sticklers for the details of regulations.

Definite issue with idpa. Some of the more popular guns won't take 15 round mags. Plus some mags weren't made before 2013. . Everyone going to shoot 10 rounders in PCC? that cuts out a whole division. Glock 17 /34 users will have to go to a G19. P320 users will need to purchase a shorter grip.

It is just politics and dollars at work.

Local media got the word that shooters could have illegal magazines at the range. LE in the area area already announced they had better things to do that go through shooters bags looking for mags.

Infinity Firearms withdrew as a major match sponsor.

USPSA moved nationals.

Those are the facts that are known at this time.

I got an offer to work for a company in Boulder, CO, SAN-iQ, and turned it down because a buddy of mine with HPe corporate turned me onto a buy-out in progress. I'd have ended up in DFW or back in Florida within two years. Decided to stick it out here and sure am glad I did. My wife really loved Boulder but two years later everyone we knew who moved there was fleeing the state. A real shame.

It also seems as if competitors would also have had to sign a compliance with the law document before competing. So rather than set up USPSA members for possible perjury, they moved out of Colorado.

USPSA has also stated that they have stopped taking advertising $$$ from Infinity and USPSA also did not bring them back to Nationals as a sponsor.

If the state doesn't want your sport there:
A: Dont go.
B: Have the event anyways. Run it normally. Kick out anybody that has a problem with it.

I'm a little disappointed that they chose A. Not very 1776.

How much tyranny will you tolerate?

Should have never been scheduled in a blue state to begin with.

I hope they enjoy the Talladega CMP park as much as I do, maybe more competitions will move to the south where it will be easier for me to watch (just leave the stupid politics elsewhere), I would like to see more local long range rifle competitions find their way down here also since I'm still shooting pistols at MOPP (minute of pie plate)
I feel if a state proves by enacting laws they don't support a hobby/competition/business maybe they need to look into moving to a friendlier atmosphere and support that local economy (stating the reason for moving is a bonus)

I'm afraid we are letting this happen in too many states. We need to get out and vote to protect our rights. This WOKE society is destroying us. We need to turn it back around.

Why do you assume I'd be lying?
"...and continuously possessed..."
A "bent" prosecutor can turn that into perjury unless you can prove you keep your magazines with you in the shower (for example). If you entered a place of business or government building where such possession would have been illegal, they have you, one way or another. NEVER assume any prosecutor is honest.

There has been some specific guidance issued by the CO AG on what "continuous possession" means. What it does NOT mean is having them on your person at all times. Keeping them in a tub in closet at home is continuous possession. Having them in a BOB in your car is continuous possession. Loaning them to your friend for his range trip (without your presence) would not be continuous possession. It's all kind of hand waving due to the extremely limited number of cases where a magazine violation was a standalone charge, and not part of a massive legal roll-up.

Ease up there, Hoss. Never accused you of lying. Just pointing out that, in the words of Yago the Parrot, GRANDFATHERED is such a big word. I thought someone one, maybe just me, might get the wrong impression about what CO means by GRANDFATHERED.
I thought it was a pretty presumptuous implication of dishonesty also....one could almost read it as a projection.

Grandfathered isn't a big word and has a clear meaning. I haven't read this exact law, but most laws of this type place the burden of proof on the accuser. The CA law, that this law was based on, requires the State to prove that the magazine isn't legal

I see people shooting guns not even on the market before 2013.
Would a park employee know?

Nobody except the harpies care, but occasionally somebody listens to a harpy. They had recent interviews with progressive state legislators who were "shocked" and "deeply concerned" (AKA fish mouth) that the 2013 law was essentially be ignored by essentially EVERYONE except the big box corporate stores who follow their legal departments guidance.

The burden of proof is on the prosecution in all criminal cases in the United States. The only time that burden shifts is when an affirmative defense is introduced, and the State can't make "prove that you're innocent" an affirmative defense.

"Dear State of CO, if you think I have not continuously possessed my magazines for the appropriate time period, prove it."
