I bought the duty gun with high profile sights,, and changed the grip, and original 1911 safety, yeah I did keep the original, but been carrying the colt style safety for 50 years and no problems yet.
fired a couple boxes and no problems.

I’m going to keep this 1911A1 style cosmetics original. It fires just right! But for the insides, going to town on it

I have never have had hammer bite from my SDS Tisas 1911A1. Now the PPK I had was the supreme Slice-N-Dice and a P-35 Clone from FEG definitely enjoyed biting my hand..

For some reason, the rowl hammers on the HP's always bit me (was always told they were meant to prevent that), where the more traditional style hammers, which I favor, dont. Never had an issue with either with my 1911's.

The hammers on my PPK's werent the cause of the blood letting for me, that was the corners of the slides and the slices in the web of my hand they caused. :)

I always would get hammer bite from the military 1911s we fired, and I still fired them for 20 years, and qualified expert. But I was sure glad most of the new 1911s have the beavertail grip safety. Even the less expensive ones like my SDS/TISAS DUTY GUN. Sure saves wear and tear on the hand.

my brother always told me was cause I grip it too high, but others have said they had the same problem, so I just got the beavertail grip safety and forgot about the problem.

I’m a little thick than normal and I have a high grip! So hammer bit = Gloves

Love the T-Sauce! Great gun For the price!

I went into the US ARMY RESERVES, 348 MP COMPANY, BAKERSFIELD, CA ON APRIL 4TH 1968, and the 1911 45 and M-1 Garand were the first guns I fired in the military. I transferred over to the full time
US Coast Guard, 15 July 1969, Used the M-14 in army boot camp at Fort Ord, CA, AND THE m-1 AND 1911 ever since. I retired from the coast guard 1 March 1989, and have owned several 1911s since.
It just feels right!! I am now 71, will be 72 next month and still carrying 1911s. My two granddads were city marshalls in old Oklahoma, and carried COLT SAAs for about 60 years. So I am not alone in my happiness with the 45 caliber

I bought the carry version of the SDS, and am happy with it too. Have fired factory loads, reloads, and not a single problem. Very happy with that gun. I did change to hogue grips, and replaced (but kept the original safety)
the safety with a military style safety. Like I said been carrying a version of that gun since I was 17 and 1/2. Never had an accident (knock on wood) and never had a safety fail to work.

yeah well it is everything the old govt guns were not. good sights, good trigger, beavertail grip safety, only thing I did was go to hogue grips, really like those grips, and change the ambi safety to a mil style regular safety.
This old war horse loves his gun now, (I was always prone to hammer bite) so far feeds everything I have put in it, reloads, hollow points everything, and that is something the old guns would never do

If I didn’t recently get into black powder and pirate guns. I would buy the SDS enhanced 4.25”

While I am averse to buying a made in Turkey firearm I've wanted a commander length 1911 for a while. They look pretty nice & the feedback seems good. The only problem is there are roughly 3 other firearms I am interested in right now & I usually buy a gun about once a year. There are other things I would likely get more use from but I like 1911's & I would be more likely to carry one with than the 5" Ruger I have now.

I carried / carry a 4.25” STI VIP. And it fit your body just right. I’m not a skinny guy or over weight, just normal, I carried it IWB and it was super comfortable. I’m a proponent the 4.25”

I also carry a Colt 3” <(I think that’s the size) and that works great too!
