Itll tear up your kydex long before the finish starts to wear. And when it does, it's not bad.
My recommendation, keep carrying you pistol, and save up for another. Itll take a couple months to get done, and all of my 1911 builders have a $1000 minimum order, on custom work right now.
I have never seen a chromed gun showing any holster wear. I have seen plenty of nickel plated guns that did. Big difference. Nickel plating is not as durable as chrome.
I've found Springfield Armory's "Armory Coat" to wear pretty well. This pistol has been through a couple fairly high round count courses, drawn and holstered a lot, including from a Safariland 6378 kydex, has only a hint of wear now around the muzzle.
