Avoid Being a Target

Dunno.

It's not like the guys who got shot up had anything which really stood out of the ordinary...

On a similar note, it's doubtful the Vegas Bump Stock guy targeted any one individual.

And we're not like the Israelis who get migraines from their eternal vigilance - we're mostly "fatted and bored."

I'm not sure "America" CAN effect a paradigm shift in mindset / culture.

Ah, "the grey man" theory. It does have value and is sound in logic.

To the lettering on the clothing you wear (or not), to the stickers on your vehicle (or not) you display in public.

If one goes looking for trouble one shouldn't be surprised once they come upon it.

And yes I realize this is basically a first ammendment issue, and that the other side gets to do whatever they want, but unfortunately this is the world we live in.

There are a number of ways for avoid being a target. “Blending in” is one of them. Awareness in general is an excellent method to identify and avoid too.

If it is the fringe, it shouldn’t be. More useful than shooting solutions IMO. After all, you don’t need them until you become unable to avoid the problem.

I tend to dress in Earth Tones, if every one around me is dressed in loud, bright colors I'm not going to draw a lot of attention any way.

I also try to avoid crowds anyway. Those are things I can do to lower my risk but every thing else is kinda in God's hands.

This is more like principles of riot/protest survival . Always worth knowing but I prefer to lead a more relaxed life for general gatherings.

I subscribe to the idea of being less of a target than the other people around you. There are a myriad of ways to do this dependent on your personal factors and area.

Here in Houston the biggest danger points for me are stopping to get gas (carjackings) and commuting in traffic (road rage shootings) 30 miles each way 5 days a week though downtown Houston . My biggest focus has been on doing things to make me less of a target than my fellow commuters, the Gray Man theory as others have espoused. I drive a nondescript car, don't speed anymore than anyone else, don't make eye contact or do anything to stand out, etc etc...

At the pump I choose a station right across from the police substation and am always armed when I am out of the car. The car is locked at all times when I am out, and I never unlock any door but the passenger door unless I have riders. I rarely go out to eat using Door Dash or similar, order all my groceries for delivery and pickup and limit the places I have to go. In a few years when I retire from the college I work I'll move back to outer BFE and this routine will likely not be needed to this level ever again.
