It has been a long time since I shot .22’s

Years ago I had not one but two Single Sixes just like the one you have. They were great .22s and always a welcome companion on lots of woodland hikes. But then I got the semi-auto itch and just like that, they were gone. I thought about getting another one but never got around to it. Then one day my best friend gave me his Single Six, as he use to carry it when he ran his trap lines. Eventually he stopped trapping and had no more use for it so he wanted me to have it.

Now he had bought it used some time before he got it and the gun was starting to show it's age. The gun functioned fine but I think the words are "cosmetically challenged" in terms of it's finish. The original hard rubber grips had broken and he put some generic looking grips on it. Well with the help of some Flitz I was able to clean this old gun to a somewhat nicer appearance than it had before. Eventually I found a set of factory wood grips that fit the Single Six perfectly and even added a .22 Magnum cylinder for it. The transformation from tired, old looking gun to decent, better looking gun was complete!

I shoot the others once in a while as a novelty, but otherwise the Browning International Medalists (top left and top right) get almost all the range time. For me, they are the most satisfying 22 LR handgun I've ever owned or fired (not that I've fired everything out there by any means).

Going to have to put this one through it's paces soon. Just picked it up today. Not sure how I feel about the short barrel but I'll withhold judgement til after I shoot it.

I don't shoot centerfire that much because my mind keeps thinking, "there goes $.60-$.65." (9mm) The .22LR is "there goes $.12." Which used to be about what 9mm was.

Yes, you do! Love that Model 60 you snuck in there. I've got one that sits unused for lack of a correctly sized plunger.
