just imagine back in the days. A man carried a Vest Gun as apart of his attire to go out and a lady carry a derringer in her undies as apart of going out formal wear. Wish I could let be in those days. Now, I think about, those were dangerous times
All times are dangerous, and the human condition is fatal.

PPK/s IWB. Problem was in those days there weren't a lot of holster choices. So I bought a left-handed simple, raw leather one with spring belt clip intended for OWB and used in right-handed IWB. Literally wore the gun out. Local smith said probably best to just get another one. Now it's a P365 in 9mm.

1982, my first legal handgun purchase was a brand new S&W Model 59 with two extra 14 round magazines all riding in a Jack-Ass shoulder rig.

First concealed carry: Glock 26 with a hybrid IWB holster at "3:30." (Old Faithful Holsters, now part of Alien Gear.)

Current concealed carry: Ruger LCP (classic) in front pocket with a Galco pocket holster.

In between concealed carry: Smith Model 60 J-Frame both IWB and pocket, Glock 42 both IWB and pocket.

Model 60 now belongs to my son, and the Glock 42 belongs to my wife.

First… Glock 23 in an uncle mikes (small of back). Did not last long

Interval…SW 642 in Desantis Nemesis pocket holster

Now… Glock 26 in a tuckable t Rex arms sidecar. For the last several years, and the foreseeable future

Classic “no clip” Remora -- IWB -- holster has been perfect.
The guns don’t move when walking or Running,,,,and grips Always touch my waist.

First carry gun was a. 380 Izhevsk Makarov. Very easy to conceal (IWB) and rock solid reliable.

Now, a CZ PCR. Easy to conceal (IWB) and rock solid reliable.

First part: What was your first CCW gun and how did you carry it?

November 1981 - Walther PPK/S. Bianchi leather OWB belt holster. Also some IWB holster with a metal clip.

Second part: what have you done differently since?

Added more guns to my list.
Les Baer Custom Carry,
S&W 340PD,
S&W Shield 9.
Plus I carry more ammo now.

My first carry pistol was my first pistol, a Ruger SR9c. It was purchased for home protection and of course carry. It was carried in a number of holsters, most IWB at 3:30-4 o'clock.

What have I done since ? I own more than 1 pistol now, and more than 3 calibers.... :) I reload my own ammo now. :) Its a slippery slope.

I carry a smaller Shield these days. I keep looking for a good reason to change that but I can't find one.

The very first time I carried was — don’t judge me — a 7.5” .45 Colt New Vaquero in an Uncle Mike’s vertical shoulder holster, under a hoodie.

Then I moved to a 3.75” .44 Special New Vaquero OWB. Foolishly sold that gun.

Nowadays it’s a 4 5/8” .45 Colt New Vaquero OWB, or a P365XL OWB. Not a fan of IWB.

Been carrying a Glock 43 in my pocket for a good while, but never grew comfortable pocket carrying an automatic with a round in the chamber, so I retired it.

Back in the day (1988ish): SIG Sauer P-226 in a shoulder holster.

Current Fake and Gay America in Name Only: Glock 43x/Hellcat/P365 at 4 o'clock.

We didn't have CCW when I got my first real sidearm, a Charter Arms Off Duty 38 snub, but we had open carry for anyone legal to own. So, I carried that 38 while I was still in high school, legally. When we finally went to CCW permits, I carried my Witness 9mm in a Jackass Leather, (yes, that long ago!), large frame semi auto pistol shoulder rig, the one that would go on to be known as the Miami Classic.
Now, CZ P-10C in a High Noon Stingray OWB rig.

I'm far from the oldest person here, but I'm still going on nearly 15 years of concealed carry, been through a lot of guns and holsters.

My first was a Kahr P9 with a Galco suede IWB holster. The big changes have been a brief period of dabbling with revolver carry early on, and then the conversion to double-stack compact 9mm, which gradually shifted to the M&P Shield-type single-stack 9mm and then gradually back to the full-size, and I've carried mainly a Sig P320 with a compact grip and a full-length slide. Holsters for about seven years have been TT Gunleather IWB or Xc and Milt Sparks VM2s.

My first carry gun 20+ years ago was a SW 642 in a pocket holster. Still carry it today but as a backup to a Ruger Max9 OWB.

Jeff,

I like the Shield a lot. I used one in late 2019 to defend my young son against 2 large, aggressive Rottweilers who had come into our yard. I am currently on orders, so I stored a lot of my firearms before I reported in. I chose to keep the Kahr instead of the Shield, since it's very concealable, but has a 4" barrel (which might have been a factor in my missing twice in 2019, along with shock over seeing my son in danger, and huge dogs charging at me with teeth bared).

John

First - S&W M36 2" in Bianchi #5bhl, Bianchi #209, or Cobra IWB.
Current - Kahr K9 in Aker belt holster.

My first CCW firearm was a Colt 1911 45ACP carried in a pouch. My shape and it's size at that time did not lend itself to a holster carry. Now, years later, I carry a Glock 36 with Pierce +1 extender and Crimson Trace laser in a Crossbreed IWB right side holster. Works well with a large t-shirt, hawaiian shirt or suit (since I lost 40 pounds). LOL

I'm in the same boat with my Shield+. Someone will have to make an awfully good pistol at a really great price to get me to change away from it.
