quick question, Dillon Powder check

"ANY STANDARD" covers a lot of ground, I am goint to say that it might work on some, might work on some with modifications and will not work on all.

For the typical reloader, who is making 500 rounds of this caliber and then 300 rounds of the next caliber, these type devices may not be the time saver you imagine. IMHO, this is simply another piece of reloading equipment to install and adjust before you can start the reloading process. Their results are only a good as their setup. There is nothing better, nothing safer, nothing quicker than looking into each case before the bullet is seated. There has never been a substitute for lots of light and 2 eyes !

If you were going to load 2000-3000 rounds for a month's worth of competition and practice, then it might be a different story. But that is not your typical reloading hobbyist.

I’m just trying to streamline my progressive process to not include looking in the case with rifle rounds. I’m making the Ultimate Pro 4000 press that will not use any Lee dies.

I still do looking in the case with my pistol round with my Dillion SDB. it’s very easy to see

I was looking at the Hornady powder COP. With the stem, but I feel like the stem is not getting my attention as much as a Dillion audio warning or better would be the RCBS Lock out die, wish they could make it for rifle.
 
On that note wondering how hard it would be to modify it to your use on rifle rounds. Might buy it and see if I could

it doesn't work on the 550

on the 650/750 there is a hole in the toolhead, the primer check system has an adjustable bar the goes through the hole, and indexes on the bottom of the press

so it won’t work for a regular non dillion hole press

Two things I would be wary of:

1. The plunger is too thick to fit in the case mouth of 223Rem or 308Win. Don’t know about other calibers. You would have to turn the diameter down or make a new one.

2. I don’t know for sure because I haven’t tried it with mine, but there may not be enough built-in rod travel to work on some rifle calibers.

I don’t recall ever seeing where anyone has modified an RCBS lockout die to work on rifle calibers, but if so, maybe they’ll chime in.

Edit; super templates to buy one and bench grind the prob to fit 223 and 308

that’s the plan, but for now! Lee GoPro 4000 is going to be the Ultimate Cheap Progressive press with so far, $300 worth of Upgrades

The bottom of the PC rod is threaded and you can put any diameter washer on the bottom, so you don’t really need to be directly over something.

Like this one, for example.

Personally, I just use a large steel washer if I am too far out to contact part of the press.

I think that is the right attitude. With my Loadmaster, I simply couldn’t give up a station and do what I wanted to do, so I just mounted a light and mirror so I could take a look at the powder charge at the bottom of the stroke.

the simplest answer are always the right one!

This has been more of a obsession than practical. I’m going to make the Ultimate Pro 4000 Lee press.
