Forget about flying with your “key” knife

FWIW the 9/11 hijackers used box cutters and other small knives to take control of those planes. I have no doubt similar items could get through today.

Last year I took a SOG Slimjim XL with a 4" blade on a trip. It made through security 3 times and got taken on the 4th and final trip through TSA. TSA's job is to make people feel like the government is doing something...
 
Well the TSA checkpoint at the airport is to make people feel safe and to at least discourage some threats. But the TSA as a whole dose a lot more.

they employ Air Marshals, liaises with the FBI and CIA to help identify threats b4 they even get to airport security, and generally secure transportation infrastructure in general.

but yea the checkpoints at the airport are 90% security theater 10% mild deterrence

OK, I checked out the GovDeals site and found the below item in one of the many Sacramento auctions with many hundreds (possibly thousands) of completely random pocket knives (It has to be a TSA auction -- https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=1305&acctid=1806). I wonder who was trying to smuggle this on board in their pants pocket?

I've lost a 2 SOG Cash Card knives to TSA .... I always forget about them. Usually remember just as getting into the security check point line after checking my baggage.
 
If you forget an have a knife ,it can be mailed home, avoid the problem and pack in stowed baggage K

One of those checked luggage sheets.as for a ok weapon to carryon the plane ,a cane works well,,
No knife cane !!

This has been this way for 21 years, now. If they're not going to allow fingernail clippers, they're not going to allow pocket knives of any kind.

Probably put it in checked luggage, though. Check the rules.
 
After the Israeli Air check in desk got attacked in Anaheim, California way back when they took a fake snake I bought my son at Disneyland from my carry on.
Note: Never attack the Israeli check in desks, they have machine guns behind the counter and know how to use them.
