Is tc still open. I have been warming up to the idea of a single shot and have started looking for them locally and even online but they are out of stock everywhere. I found a article from last year stating that smith and Wesson was looking to sell tc. I wasn't sure if they were still in business.

I’ve not heard of them actually manufacturing anything though. Ssk bought the rights to the contender and they are supposed to be coming out with their version called the ssk-50. It was supposed to come out in 2020. Then it was supposed to come out in this past February but I still haven’t heard anything. I’d really like to buy one as the t/c contender frames are getting expensive and I want one before they get out of my budget.

I'm happy someone will be producing them, but I'm not exactly an SSK and JD Jones fanboy.

I believe the answer is no one knows definitively when the T/C single shot actions will be available again.

I keep hoping a S&W/TC insider will share some good news on this, but I haven't found it so far. I believe the SSK product is intended as a licensed Contender alternative rather than a replacement, or will be once it's available.

FWIW, the 'buy now' buttons for the single shots at T/C's own website all appear to be non-functioning place holders right now, and their blog hasn't been updated in over a year.

I've been looking for another Encore frame for a couple years and have been regularly checking the usual suspects like Haus of Arms, E A Brown, etc.

A Firehammer .460 is on my short list of arms I'd like to get. I think it'd probably be a good investment, considering I've got enough .454 and .45 Colt hunting ammunition to last a couple of lifetimes. (Of course, that true of .308, .224 Valkyrie, 5.56x45, and 12 gauge, as well.)

I love my Contenders, and Yes, you can still get them new, but would much rather have an older original than any of the S&W TC's

Single shot 410 will do just fine for chicken raiders and safe for neighbors.

I just discovered pest control rounds for my 1911 and find it to be a hoot. My house backs up to big greenbelt so I get frequent furry dinner guests when I feed the outdoor cats. I'm happy to feed them as well, but keep the pest control rounds handy because I occasionally get bobcats that aren't great about sharing with the poor kitties that live in my garage or the raccoons that live in the tool shed. I don't want to hurt them, just give them pause about being bullies. I do like to watch them sunning themselves from time to time on the apron of my pool.

If you are gonna shoot it, shoot to kill. Someone shot one of my kitties with a bb before she wandered into our hearts. It was lodged in her permanently and likely didnt help her health any. She died at about 3 years old.

Get a paintball gun if you wanna scare em without actually hurting them.

That is terrible about your kitty. I'm so sorry.

Never seen the striker before, it looks interesting but I was really wanting a 30-30 rifle single shot. Cva doesn't make one but Henry does. I may have to try and find a Henry

It is a real shame that quality American manufacturers like T/C and Knight muzzle loaders are down and out. I still hunt with my T/C hawken and thunder hawk as well as my MK 85. This whole making muzzle loaders more and more like center fire rifles is the opposite of progress. Just one old hunters thoughts.

Well luckily even if Contender and encore frames are no more they will still live on for a long long time because there are tons and tons of them availible used and aftermarket companies like MGM and Eabco making better barrels than T/C ever did. Dozens of people making new wood for them too.
