It's really quite simple math ; Some calibers produce more energy than others dependent upon weight and velocity . Also bullets must be of the same general design . HP verses FMJ isn't a valid comparison ,as the energy is dissipated with fragmentation of many bullet designs which aren't FMJ or Solids .

What do you think that bullet would do to drywall and a stud inside a house , I know I've used them and they exit exterior walls with plaster . That's all I've got to say ,other than :

Try this with a 9mm carbine at 200 Yd. or pistol and video the results .

There is a "combo" of factors that make a bullet perform ...

Design ... must be designed to meet the desired level of damage upon impact and penetrating... most hunting bullets for small and medium game are in fact Hollow Point ....they may have an open HP or the HP can be filled with a piece of "plastic"... but they are HP none the less... Full Metal Jacket are for fur hunters and solids for really big game...

Velocity... goes back to design ...must have a range of velocity that meets the design... Cartridge choice ....powder, primer that works to provide velocity..

Energy is the math that weight and velocity gives ...

Total ....All of the above combined factors make the ideal bullet ... match the cartridge.... match the design for the game hunted ... it must ALL work together...

A 45 Colt has less energy than a 223.
It will go end for end in a cow.
A 223 will not.

I see your Energy, and raise you Momentum, Permanent Wound Cavity and exit holes.

As well, the equation you allude to was in regards to soft point and hollow point self defense bullets by civilians, not FMJ, which everyone knows will pencil a hole through mild steel with no problem.
I have personally shot a Hornady 50grn SPSX into a DirtyBird target on a cardboard box and not had a pass through.

I call. Let’s see ‘em.:scrutiny:

This is nothing more than an attempt to continue an argument from a thread that was closed. You were provided with multiple examples of why your position that 223 will over penetrate everything was not accurate for all loadings. Choose to accept it or not. I don't care. But we are not going to raise a closed argument from the dead.
