I posted recently about shooting my grandson's Ruger Wrangler and liking it, enough that I decided to get one if I could find one with the silver finish. All I found was a bronze one and I really don't care for that color and am not fond of any other finish than the silver one. Yesterday I stopped in the LGS and asked if he had a silver wrangler coming in and the conversation went like this. 'No, got a bronze one coming in though. Uh, uh. needs to be silver. I can order one, they have them in stock." My new Wrangler will be here next week.

PS: I already have the holster I plan on making for it pretty well planned out.

Sounds fun!

I'm thinking about getting a black one, possibly the 3.75" barreled birds head model and customizing it with a Bisley trigger and hammer, and an aluminum XR3-RED grip frame that I polished and rounded the butt. Maybe have my daughter, who is starting machinist trade school, mill off the front side and put a dovetail so I can have a drift adjustable front sight. Should be a fun, cheap project.

Sounds good. I wanted something that mimics the 1873 Colt with the less than stellar sights in 22 LR. Not being able to run down any current maker of one in steel I settled for the "modernized" Wrangler. I have a few sets of wood grips I have made that fit Single Sixes and BlackHawks and one set will replace the cheesy plastic factory version.

I already have a bird's head model Heritage that satisfies that need. I dressed it up a little with an engraved cylinder and the checkered wood grips available from Heritage. Some may consider it putting lipstick on a pig but that is their problem.

You know the rule: Pictures (when it comes in) or it never happened. ;)

I liked the Wrangler so much I, too bought a birdshead model. I did grab some Altamont grips during a Black Friday sale to replace the wafer-thin factory grip panels, best $18 bucks I spent in a long time :).

Sometimes taking the budget blasters and a brick of cheapo ammo out for the day is just what the doctor ordered to slow down and just have some fun.

Stay safe.

Well, I did it too. I bought a birds head black Wrangler, ordered a used Single Six hammer and a Bisley trigger (yet to install these). I put an aluminum grip frame I modified (reduced flair front and back and tapered the grip). The aluminum grip frame is 3oz lighter than the birds head zinc frame and feels lively. More tinkering to come! I hope you enjoy yours!

(As to the ‘Lipstick’ brigade: I put Altamont walnut birds-head grips on my black Wrangler… and boy, izzit purdy!)

Still waiting on mine to arrive. Shipping must be by mule train.

I wouldn't be able to take it to the range if I had it. Cipro and sunshine to not play well together and I have a few more days to go on the pills.
