.50 AE, any rifle that shoot that round?

Buffalo Bores +p+ .44 magnum load has significantly more muzzle energy than their own.50ae loads, and their .44 magnum +p+ equals the hottest .50ae load info I can find.
Halfway is being generous.

Now, if the .50ae were running at the same pressures as the .454, it would run circles around it. I'll bet a .50ae out of a freedom arms could be worked up into a beast of a load...but why bother with more powerful cartridges available in the same gun.
.44 mag out of a Turas with the port holes! Super Manageable! I’m kindda in love with that gun too. My brother let me barrow his and it’s a easy shooter

300 grain RN Berry with 31.5 grains of H110. Have had no cycling issues and recoil is very comfortable, but decent fireball out the end. Changed to nightsights that I got from Midway, and that was a gamechanger, in regards to shooting. Also have the 44 mag barrel, but haven't taken off the 50 AE barrel because it's a joy to shoot, and just easier to pick up the Ruger Super Redhawk, if the urge to shoot 44 mag comes up, although the change out is effortless, and takes nothing. I did label the bottoms of my 50 AE and 44 mags, as they look similar, when grabbing, empty, at the range. Happy hunting, for a deal on a DE.

I always wanted a Desert Eagle but when handling them they were always big and cumbersome. Then they came out with the L5 Desert Eagle in 357, light weight frame with a 5" barrel. THAT caught my interest, but if I got a Desert Eagle it would be .50ae or what's the point. Then they came out with the L5 in .44mag. Just a little before my 50th birthday they came out with the L5 in 50ae... it was a good 50th birthday! There still isn't anything practical about the L5 Desert Eagle... but who cares!

About a year later I found a .44mag barrel for my XIX L5 Desert Eagle. The recoil of the .44 vs .50 in the DE isn't very distinguishable to me. If you handed me my own XIX L5 and asked me if it had .44mag or .50ae in it after shooting it I don't think I could reliably tell you one way or the other. The .44mag takes considerably less powder and considerably less lead in the slugs which does make it cheaper to reload for. But blowing up cinder blocks with the .50ae is a hoot!

I think the 50ae would make a great rifle round. I have looked at the T/C encores a few times... but haven't jumped on one yet.

I have heard of a couple of bolt actions modified to handle it, but its not cheap. I think one donor was one of the winchester super short magnums as the bolt face size was similar. A lot of work though, particularly the magazine setup.

The 50ae has the same rim diameter as the 44mag. So a 44mag rifle re-barreled to 50ae might be the cheapest way to go. (I use the same shell plate to reload 44mag and 50ae)

Ruger 77/44 bolt action rifle in 44mag as a doner maybe?

.50 DE has been my dream gun. I bought the brass here on THR to encourage me to case my dreams. but it’s still $1500 and raising every year

You should save up the money even if it takes a while. If you love big bore hand cannons they are worth every cent.

I fell in love with the Eagle about 20 years ago when a friend of mine bought one and brung it to my house to shoot.

Over the past few years Ive managed to buy 2, both new at time of purchase. I would not trade them for anything.

So, would a .50AE rifle be a PCC technically?

Also, what about some type of short barreled delayed blowback .50AE shoulder arm with select fire capability. Is that still a “sub” machinegun?

@RevolvingGarbage

I'm guessing technically speaking it would be a pcc as it was designed to be fired from a handgun.

I don't know why ARs chambered for it never took off. There used to be a company or two that made them then it just fizzled. I would gladly buy an upper if someone would put one out.

Look for a used one. There will be one, very lightly used, Desert Eagle pistol for sale in every state for a good price.
Usually with less than a box through it.;)

If you can find a new one for $1500, snap it up! I paid 1600 for mine 3 years ago. All the prices I’m seeing are around 2k for a new one.

And finally, DO IT! It is my favorite pistol, hands down. Big boomer revolvers are all alike.
There is only one Eagle.
I've seen a few at my LGS lately, I think $1500 for each of them. I'll double check now and edit if I'm wrong, but I've seen a couple. 357 and .50AE. Edit To Add: DE Mark XIX $1699 in .357 and .50AE.

They appealed to me when I was a teenager. If I ever decide to be a gangster I would get one for my criminal headquarters and would keep it right next to my gold plated Chinese AK.

My life of a heroic mercenary would definitely include a brace of Ingram MAC10’s. :)

Just when the 1,000 round a minute Ingram’s run dry and the Colombian henchmen are about to surround me,
The BigDog begins to bark! As barrels and multiple men go flying yards per fifty caliber hit, I’ll grab the babe and we’ll make our getaway on a dirt bike, Swayze and Fawcett hair glowing in the sun!

Huh? Wha, what were we doing?:)

is this from a movie?

wish they had a DE .50 in Nightmare on Elm St.

Hated Freddy
Wait didn’t that one guy have two pistols and a utility belt? Can’t remember which nightmare on elm street it was. But ole Freddy turned into a super mannish type and killed him. Not sure if he had Desert Eagles or not.

DE .50 dipped in Holly water!

My one and only purchased pretty cheap from GB about 13 years ago. Came with about 325 assorted rounds of factory ammo. I like the .357 barrel better, but the .50 ae is still a hoot to shoot! It was listed at the time as a Mark VII IMG_1363a.jpg
