Did I find the right ammo or did the bolt shims make the headspace more consistent or is it something much less sophisticated just plain old breaking in?

I acquired some bolt shims to adjust headspace for the CZ452 also for two other rifles. Since installing the bolt shims it seems the rifle is much more accurate and consistent less flyer. Though to be fair though I have had this 452 for a very long time it doesn't have 400 rounds thru it yet.

What do you all think?

If you can get it, try some RWS match rifle or R50. I yous't to use match rifle my CZ 452. Unfortunately I sold the rifle about 5 years ago. It would print groups with little to no flyers.

That ammo may be the same as Wolf Match Extra. Dunno. I’ve read that one of the major suppliers make it. You’ll get a lot of CZ owners tell you that the Wolf ammo gets the best results. This may well be the same stuff.

I do know that I’ve shot similar groups with my 453 Varminter at 50 yards off a solid bench and good rests. My CZ’s required a break in period.

Wind can definitely be a factor. 1 MPH of change can account for .1" variance in your groups. That little 22 bullet is stubby and moving pretty slow.

My guess is all three. I guess that ammo is the biggest factor. It is with mine.

I think the SK Standard Plus is the same as the Wolf match. At least that’s what I’ve read and what my experience with both shows me.

Just did a search for Wolf match ammo. It said that Wolf was indeed made by the same folks as SK. At about 2018 that changed, Wolf 22 match is now made by Eley. My Wolf is all prior to 2018, that might explain why mine appears to be identical to my SK Std. Plus.
