RIA 1911 10mm

While I don't have any 1911 in 10mm, I do have several Rock Island 1911's in 45ACP, 9mm, and 38 Super. They have all been good to go for me.

Looks good. I hope to get one soon to compare to my Springfield Ronin 10mm. Because 2 is 1 and 1 is none.

I just put my first Rock Island 1911 in .45 acp on layaway last week. I'm hoping it is as good of a budget level gun buy as my Tisas 1911s have been.

I have a RIA 10mm FS Tactical. This goes with me whenever I am wandering in the Nat'l. Forest. Its an excellent 1911 except it tends to launch my brass into the next county. That may be because I load them pretty hot. When I would shoot 40 S&W the brass would drop closer to my feet.

I have the FS Tac too. No range report needed. They are great shooting and accurate guns. The only GI model 1911 i have is RIA'S 38 super. And it also shoot great and is accurate. My 10mm is also my hiking gun. Along with my SBH.

Are you a reloader? If not, now might be a good time to start. You can do it pretty inexpensively, if you don't need to make hundreds of rounds per week. I just rolled 185 rounds of 357 and 38 this week so far; need to do some more light 44 Magnum now for the Redhawk and Marlin 1894.

I'll have to say, 10mm is one of the easiest to reload. Brass, bullets and powder are fairly attainable, if you can get primers you're off to the races.

I load my 10MM pretty damn hot so I always go to a heavier recoil spring to slow things down a bit and keep my brass in the same zip code….lmao

Something that works even better is a semi square bottom on the firing pin stop plate. John Moses Browning originally used a smaller radius than most FPS's come with, but the military requested a larger radius so cavalry could rack the slide easier on horseback, or so the story goes.
A 1/32" radius at the bottom towards the rear uses up more energy to cock the hammer during recoil, it's really a free lunch kind of thing as there's no downside, unless you have weak hands and can't rack the slide, in which case you just point the end that goes bang towards something you don't care about and cock the hammer by hand first, after which it's as easy as it's going to be to rack it. You can buy an oversized FPS pretty cheaply, but fitting one requires some skill.
You'll notice the difference, and a heavier recoil spring than is necessary to load and close the slide again will also add a pounding to the gun.
Once you find the spring strong enough to take it back into battery reliably that's really all the spring you need.

I have owned several RIA in 45acp and one in 38 Super … great pistols.. never a problem…

I've had my RIA FS Tactical for almost a year and I like it more as it breaks in and keeps smoothing up.It didn't like the Sig 165 V-Crown bullets I first loaded for it because the big hollow point was a little draggy on the feed ramp and I got a little setback,but a little polishing on the feed ramp took care of that.It's at its best with the 180 grain Hornady XTP and AA-9 powder in Starline brass.With the Leupold Delta Point,it will put 5 rounds in 3 inches at 50 yards every time off a rest.The trigger is incredible,especially for a pistol that costs no more than they do.4 pounds,no creep and the adjustable overtravel screw makes it feel like it oughta feel.I'm no fan of imported firearms,vehicles or women,but this one is impressive.I've got around 350 rounds through it and it's been as reliable and accurate as I could expect.I'm probably going to get another RIA in 45 Commander length to use as an inexpensive carry gun for the trips I have to make through Maryland to my back surgeon.Thankfully they've made it so we in WV and other states will be able to get a MD permit,but until then,the idea of a cheaper pistol to carry is appealing.I have to give my 10MM very high marks in every aspect though.It's a feature laden pistol that functions like a pistol costing 3 times as much.

I have no complaints at all . Recoil is mild but I did buy the long slide bull barrel .
