As of yesterday, took over stewardship of what looks to be a pretty good old Mec Grabber. Seller was moving "dads" old stuff, which among other things, included some odd lots of powder. Unique, Alcan #7 and 700X. I can probably find a use for the 700X, but not the other. I may even have some old lots of powder myself. Herco to name one.

Hate to dump it. Not feasible to ship it. Won't use it. Now what?

While I am not a regular user of 700X/Unique, I could certainly find applications.

And Herco is great for 40S&W ... clean burning too ... inside the case clean burning.

As far as I know, nothing wrong with any of it. Just not something I will ever use. Trying to figure out how to get it into the hands of someone who will.

Recently joined a local trap club when I found out they had a 300 yard rifle range I can use to develop test loads. Will have to check, but they may have a bulletin board for postings like this. They did have a table to put out stuff like wads, etc. Don't think that would include powder.

That 700-x is premium in 45ACP and 38 special target loads. Or 12ga field loads.
I liked many rabbit, partridge, crow etc with it.
My dad used the last of the Alcan when I was young enough to "help/get in the way". I could see if mom still has his data.

Sorry, I thought everyone knew. Central MO. Close enough to drive to Midway or Graf's.

The Alcan #7 is in a 3 pound can. May not be full, but close.

Unique may only be a pound or two......in a plastic container.

Maybe 2 or 3 pounds of 700X........remnant in what was a 5# metal can. I can use that for shotgun loads, but if it helped make a trip worthwhile, would hand that over too.

Get on the dark web, and start talking about threaded pipe...

A friendly ATF agent will be along shortly to take it off your hands.

I have found that Unique really is a unique powder for many of my hand guns. I’m now using some that I purchased in the mid 1980’s with Excellent accuracy and consistency over the crony. I would use it.

Put the tops/caps snug on and store in a "cool, dark pace". You may find a use for it (Unique, 700x if you do any handgun reloading), or know someone that can use it. I have read that the old "dump it on plants for fertilizer" is an old wives' tale. Yep lots of nitrogen in gunpowder, but as often as not, it will "burn" plants. I have just dumped as much as a 1/2 lb in the trash barrel. Not concentrated enough to start a fire even if a spark were present...

If you can't give it away use it for fertilizer. If not in a garden spread it out in the grass to green it up.

There is a good chance we are close to each other depending on what direction you drive to get to Midway or Graf's. But I don't have a use for any of those powders either. I still have plenty of Hodgdon H110 for my 410 shells and plenty of Hodgdon Universal for pistol calibers.

What powders do you use?

For rifles, either a 4350, 4831, Varget or similar. Different calibers, but small range of powders work for all.

For shotgun, wide range of 12 gauge loads.....everything from lite target to slugs and buckshot. But Red Dot, Green Dot or a few others work for all of it. I have a huge swath of powders for shotgun, but two or three will do what I want.

Don't load for any pistolas at all.
