Got to looking at one of my older Miroku’s and decided to try and redo the beechwood to something more antiqueish.
Started with my homemade charcoal pigment oil, some stripping with permant marker, some black and brown India ink.
Still a work in progress, I plan on filling down the darker black lines and finishing off with a few coats of tru oil.
I’ll post photos when it’s complete.

You're off to a good start, my methods are a little different, I use a really dark stain for striping then sand the stock with 400 wet or dry paper to make it fade a bit. Once its sanded the final finish brings the stripes back out, usually.
