Exactly how many boxes can one buy without a bank loan. The price is high enough they don't have to worry about a run...Was pleasantly surprised today to learn Academy no longer has a '4 item limit' on ammo/primers, etc.

Well even fmj 357 are 50 a box and 5.7are even more. I guess if your thirsty you can get 4 boxes of 125 556 rounds. That's 5 hundo after tax.Is the correct answer 4?

I was buying Norma white tail for 24 a box and when the price jumped to 34 a box I was done. Wanted the brass.I live very close to an Academy. I like Academy but other a modest amount of 22 LR I have not bought any ammo from any store since late 2019.
I was fortunate that my competition bug had switch to NRL22 instead of something centerfire. So for most of my informal shooting and hunting I have been using stuff out of my current stocks. I could do this for a few more years without buying too much. I could use some small rifle primers but other than that I am in no rush to buy anything.I was buying Norma white tail for 24 a box and when the price jumped to 34 a box I was done. Wanted the brass.
LOL!!! Hate to put it so indelicately cuz’ but there’s folks on this very forum who make more on the interest of their Christmas card slush fund every month than slobs like us make a year. Good thing, too. If it weren’t for the Daddy Warbucks reloaders buying up inventory the manufacturers wouldn’t bother selling consumer gear to the public. Yup. Nearest Academy to me is Daytona Beach - about a 3-1/2 hour drive, each way. 7 hours on the road - burning $3.50/gallon gas - on the off chance they might have something I need? Nah. I’ll leave it for someone else.$50 a box for 357??? I'm so glad I started loading that caliber. Didn't realize they had gotten that expensive, and there isn't an Academy anywhere near me that I'm aware of.
$1 a round for 556 is kinda expensive too! Glad I do that one too!

Hey!There’s no money in selling one lead pot to one bullet caster once every 30 years.
Well, dang! Ya’ll must be some of them Rocky-fellars. Flush with oil money I bet!Hey!
I'll have you know I've purchased TWO lead pots in the last 30 years.
Both of them used...
But primers....still haven't seen any at Academy near me....at any price

Yeah, I noticed that when I was in San Francisco. Gas prices are insane there. I saw as high as $6.35/gal. $900/month power bills for 2-room walk-ups. I actually paid for a couple of meals because the hotel food was so awful: $15 for a $5 poke bowl and $10 for a small “breakfast burrito” and a cup of coffee. I hate to think what the actual cost of shooting is over there.I’ll take some of that…….$3.50 a gallon of gas. I’m paying $5.59 locally. I can save a $1 a gallon in Reno, an hour away. Trip actually pays for itself.
Shooting costs. Who cares? I hate to think what was in the burrito.Yeah, I noticed that when I was in San Francisco. Gas prices are insane there. That would be funny if it wasn't so true.Exactly how many boxes can one buy without a bank loan. The price is high enough they don't have to worry about a run...
I'll second that thought!Another good sign of the screws loosening.
