My heavy-barreled 10-22 has a free-floating, Shilen heavy-fluted barrel beyond the front bedding screw area. It shoots really great, having shot 10 consecutive 5-shot groups at 50 yards that averaged under 1/2" at 50 yards. It's been quite a while since doing that, but it still shoots great with target and match ammo.

Mine looks like yours, but has an after-market Shilen bull barrel and it's delivered some really impressive results.View attachment 1101571

Damn

Mine shoots well. Certainly not a Feinwerkbau or Anschutz, but then again I don’t run summer biathlon events anymore so an inch, inch and a quarter at 75 yards is plenty good enough for my needs.

These are a full 10-round mag at 50 yds. Blazer and Sterling Cross the gun liked, the Armscor not so much.

Obviously not a guarantee, but with loads it liked it can shoot pretty good.

Stay safe.

I’ve got eleven 10-22’s, or maybe a couple more. Some are factory configuration while others have been heavily modified.
One of my favorites is my Charger. Copper Custom brace or stock adapter, suppressed, binary trigger… fast & surprisingly accurate.

More conventional is my 2013 Mannlicher stocked 10-22.

I won mine at a match. I put a rear aperture sight and a military sling on it, and in that configuration, it’s an excellent rifle for something like an Appleseed event. It’d make a decent small game rifle as well. In the accuracy department, it’s just ok, so if out-of-the-box target accuracy is what one is looking for, there are better options, IMO.

Between peoples ability, expectations and each particular rifles build tolerances account for huge swings in performance.

I’m not a crack shot but in my 55 years of shooting I’ve owned a couple dozen 10-22’s and owned some that shoot better than others. None are what I’d call target guns, not even the ones Ruger called “Target” guns.
For me the 10-22 is fun to shoot and upgrade and have found them to be a great trainers for 7 of my 11 grandkids (not all are ready to start shooting yet)

I'd forgotten about My other 10-22 which was in SS . I say was because it's NO longer a .22 RF but rather a slick little .17 HM2 .
Had a close Gunsmith friend bore and sleeve it , also floated the barrel and it's an impressively accurate little sucker . Great for under 100 yd. vermin ,absolutely destroys voles . The other Rifle is My 1955- Model 722 .222 aka Triple Deuce , which is a one ragged hole 0-300 Yd. larger vermin dispenser . My 17 HM ll.jpg
