What's doing with the NRA

Life member also, I have washed my hands of them. They are corrupt and waste member money on frivolous things and lining the pockets of WLP and his cronies. The fact that WLP is not directly answerable to the membership or even the board is more than enough reason to shun the organization even if WLP was a saint, he is far far from a saint. My vote as a member is meaningless, the only vote I have left is withholding funds. If you want to stick your head in the sand and ignore the shady crap the NRA leadership has done that is your right but I will be damned if I give them another cent. The number of notable pro-2A people that have left or been driven out of the NRA by WLP and his cronies should be evidence enough of their corruption.

"The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot."

BTW: i spent a career in the US Army. You?
.

Thank you for your service, alsagr. I'm not interested in whipping out our, umm... credentials and comparing sizes because that is not reasonable debate, but since you asked...

The Beck side of my family has been here since before this was the United States. I have four ancestors that qualify me for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. One of them was a surveyor who built roads for General Washington to fall on Cornwallis. The others were soldiers, one barely 18 fighting for our independence. The Becks (my British Becks) have fought in nearly every war since The Revolution, Including the American Civil War in which one of my ancestors died fighting to preserve the Union. I'm also a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

My dad fought against the Empire of Japan in WWII in the Army Air Corps, which later became the Air Force. His formation of B-17s was attacked by Japanese Zeros for the first time over the skies of Burma (now Myanmar). That earned him his first battle star. There would be many more. That was the first of many scrapes and close calls he had in WWII as a flyer. He also served during the Korean Conflict. He was deployed many times during his 20 years in the Air Force and then did 8 years in the Air Force Reserves after retirement.

As for me, I grew up in a military family as an Air Force "Brat." It was a good life. I was too rebellious to join the military when I became old enough to do so. I later served my country in many other ways, including law enforcement and EMS. I was a Boy Scout too.

One of my sons is a Navy Corpsman embedded with the Marines, which is essentially a Marine who can treat the wounded while shooting back at the enemy. I'm very proud of him.

James IV, King of Scotland is my 13th great grandfather. Diana, Princess of Wales is a distant cousin. So is Queen Elizabeth II.

I'm a lifetime student and lover of history, and ancestry.... my heritage. I know all about this country, the people who shaped it and the ways in which they did, including Thomas Paine. His works, "The American Crisis" and "Common Sense" are must reads to stir the Spirit of '76 in your heart... if you have it in your heart. I certainly do.

My mom's side are more recent immigrants form Germany and the Netherlands. Would you like to know their contributions to the United States and their history going back hundreds of years, or are we done here with this distraction so we can continue discussing the topic of this thread?

PS: Never assume a guy or gal participating in a thread in a web forum doesn't have a grasp of the topic at hand or the world in general. I know all about what's going on with the NRA. I agree that many people don't, but I'm not one of those people. I don't repeat talking points. My opinions are not shaped by popular media. I have my own mind and I speak my own thoughts from it.

BTW: It's the left leaning anti 2nd crowd who are now looking with disdain and contempt at America's Founding Fathers and other great leaders and philosophers who inspired the Revolution . Those people are taking down their statues, same as they have defiled sacred Confederate memorials of our brothers in The south.

Whose side are you on?

I am on the side that supports the Constitution as it was written. But those thinking what is going on in the NRA is just a witch hunt aren't dealing with reality.

OK, Beck. alsagr said he was done with the issue, so let's let it go. I have issues with his last post as well, but at this point it doesn't matter.

i'm back!!!

My 4th great grandfather John Hart signed the DOI. i'm descended from his son (Not Daniel) Edward who along with at least 11 other ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. Two were KIA.

My great grandfather fought on the losing side of the US Civil War, losing four brothers in the process. My Dad and his three brothers fought in WWII. Dad is one of very few sailors to be awarded the Silver Star for valor. My brother was killed at LZ Albany on 17 November, 1965.

Beginning in 1998, i spent thousands of hours researching my ancestry. The family whose last name i bear hails from Island Rugen, formerly Denmark, now Germany. i''m descended from numerous crown heads of Europe through the mother of a 4th great grandfather and others. Diana's blood runs in my veins too: So does the blood of Queen Elizabeth II.

It is indeed a travesty that Confederate monuments re being taken down/destroyed. i belong to a Sons of Confederate Veterans post in Virginia.

My opinions are not shaped by popular media.

Neither are mine.

Whose side are you on?

i'm on the side of our second Amendment rights.

Politically, i'm on neither side. This country is torn apart by cheap militant ignorance. i've not voted for a presidential candidate since 2008. The lesser of two evils is to damn evil.

After the dumpster fire flamed up at the NRA convention my donations stopped entirely and i clawed back a bequeath. Money that would have gone to the NRA is donated to childrens charities. Given my age, donations to the NRA may never resume.

My point is that this is not some noble effort to measure out justice, it is an ignoble attempt to screw a politically incorrect entity.

Justice may well be metered out.

But I repeat my rhetorical observation above: How many non-profit organizations could withstand this kind of srewtiny?

Is GAO the next target? Or SAF? Or JPFO? Or your State Rifle and Pistol Club?

Ah, but that's just speculation.

What malfeasance are any of those groups guilty of? Giving the NRA a pass because you don't believe their malfeasance is like throwing gasoline on a fire and expecting it to go out. If all the membership said no then the problem would have to be fixed.

Has any Officers or anyone on the Board of Directors of the NRA been found guilty in a court trial? While employed by the NRA?

If yes, please post a link.

What happened to innocent till proven guilty?

When the NRA is gone, so are your guns. Just my 2 cents as an NRA Life Member.

We don't know and won't know until the next one (GOA, SAF, JPFO, your State Club) falls under the Lefty powers-that-be microscope and are likewise screwtinized.

Please quit missing the point that this is a vendetta in the worst sense of the word. Charges or not, guilty or not, the mass of charges itself can do the NRA (or GOA or SAF or JPFO, or your State Club) in.

I repeat my question. Who's next?

What to do about this vendetta? I'll leave that up to the NRA lawyers, but condemning the NRA out of hand and withdrawing support is not the best thing for the Second Amendment. They didn't call it the 800 lb gorilla for nothing.

I remember a lot of bellyaching about the word "alleged" in news reports, to the point where it became a joke. "He allegedly fell to his death and allegedly splattered on the alleged sidewalk from 30 alleged floors up."

I'd like to hear that word more often in this matter instead of hearing the "CHARGE" bugle call from impassioned NRA-bashers.

I repeat, let the hangnail wait until after we get out of intensive care.

Five'll getcha ten that the next post starts, "I'm not an NRA-basher, but..." :D

If only we could have as many negative posts about Biden as Wayne LaPierre. We are eating our own young.

Mr. Biden and Mr. Lapierre are men with the same principles.

Please Read Mr. Lapierre's comments in the complaint.

We are Trying To Teach our Young That Wrong is Wrong no matter who is doing it.

By not Teaching this we end up with men in the White House like LBJ, Mr. Clinton and Mr. Biden.

If Mr. Lapierre was a Man of Principals the New York AG's only comment would he been; the NRA is one of most well run nonprofit organizations that is chartered in New York State.

That didn't happen, so now the NRA management has No Legs to stand on.

Pleased to meet you, alsaqr. Here's how I would like to go forward. We won't question things like each other's intelligence, astuteness, and credentials simply because we disagree on an issue. And just FYI I voted for the late Phyllis Diller for president in the 2016 election and for the late Pat Paulsen in the 2020 election by write-in vote. When given two bad choices I'll come up with my own better choice.

I figured having a corpse in the White House couldn't do much harm. Boy was I wrong! But having the late Joe Biden in the White House won't make me abandon the United States anymore than the NRA having some issues will cause me to abandon it. I'll work to reform both where they need reforming.

Thank you Mr. Beck:

It sounds very good to me. i apologize for my contrariness.

Would prefer to spend more time outside doing useful stuff like shooting but it's been too hot. As a result i've wasted much valuable time on the internet. This week i'm outside, hot or not.

Wishing you and yours the best:

Yes, I guess they have been proven guilty because the Bankruptcy Court Judge found that Mr. Lapierre didn't act in good faith. So yes that would be the first one and unfortunately probably many more to come.

Woody philips was convicted of embezzlement then was hired as CFO. Millie Hallow used 40 thouasand of NRA money to finance a wedding.
No jail time that i see?

The bankruptcy was just a way to get out of the antigun state of New York. https://law.justia.com/cases/new-york/other-courts/2022/2022-ny-slip-op-22057.html
Accordingly, it is

ORDERED that the motions to dismiss are GRANTED to the extent that the claims for dissolution (first and second causes of action), breach of the NYPMIFA (sixteenth cause of action), and unjust enrichment (eighteenth cause of action) are dismissed; and the motions are otherwise DENIED.

This constitutes the Decision and Order of the Court.

NY is trying anything possible to put the NRA out of business.

The courts have said ok to carry firearms with a permit in NY. NY is now making many many Gun Free Zone, where no carry is allowed. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20220623/nra-wins-supreme-court-case-nysrpa-v-bruen

The news media is not required by law to print the truth. Politicians are not held accountable for what they say, unless under oath.

1) The anti-gunners along with the major media are trying to put the NRA out of business with all their might including lying and twist the truth to make that happen.

2) WLP and his cronies in the leadership of the NRA are fleecing the membership and putting their own well being and finances ahead of fighting the good fight in defense of the 2A.

Both of the above statement can both be true and in this case are completely true. There is plenty of press from pro-2A groups that supports the truth of both statement above.

This is a list of the pro-2A supporters driven out or resigned from the NRA since this whole corruption of WLP hit the public in 2019. This list does not include pro-2A board member that have simply not run again due to their frustrations with WLP et al:

Oliver North, President
Pete Brownells, Board of Directors
Chris Cox, Chief Lobbyist
Esther Schneider, Board of Directors
Sean Maloney, Board of Directors
Timothy Knight, Board of Directors
Julie Golob, Board of Directors
Craig Morgan, Board of Directors
Richard Childress, Board of Directors
David Lehman, Deputy Executive director and General Counsel
Dan Boren, Board of Directors
Duane Liptak, Board of Directors

https://www.savethe2a.org/
This is one of the better pro-2A groups trying to reform the NRA and remove WLP and his cronies.

This is a good interview by Stephen Gutowski from The Reload (very pro-2A press) interviewing Rob Pincus one of the leader of the above savethe2A organization.
