Very nice! I have the same no dash in nickel, likely later than yours based on sn. I bought it used (with the original grips), some 35 years ago so can’t help you with the date. I have fired it quite a bit, it is a superb shooter and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

AAC shows up as 1981 in the SCSW4, although that's just an estimate for any particular gun.

Do you guys just luck into these? I traded a Glock 43 and 200 bucks with 150 rounds of 9mm for a no dash 686 a couple of years ago that's about as well as I've done on a firearm trade. I will echo other sentiments nice revolver.

Yes, a serial number starting with AAC comes back as shipped in 1981 which is almost the first year of production but the first year of the 3 letter, 4 digit serial number series. (M586 ran from 1980 to 1999)
IMO the only thing that would make that gun better is if it were in Blue lol. (I just like them better)

I bought a M686-2 which has a serial number starting with BAS which puts it at a 1988. The difference between the M586 and M686 is the M586 is carbon steel and comes in blue or nickel and the M686 is the stainless steel version of the M586.

I'll never part with my 686 no dash. Born on date 1983. I love the blued guns. They've always been my favorite. You got an awesome deal. I haven't seen an original blued 586 in years.
