Recently bought a Rossi lever in .357. Had given my Winchester Trapper w/16" barrel to younger generation family member.

Couldn't get the stated tubular magazine capacity. Hundreds of other folk and I have had to trim the magazine spring to get proper length. Why? Rossi (or whoever is making them now) puts the SAME magazine spring in all its lever rifles IRRESPECTIVE of barrel/mag-tube length. Go figure.

My 44 I used to have ended up apart 5 times before I got it where I wanted it. It was pretty, but I had to tune a bunch of stuff to get it "finished". It was a nice gun when I sold it. My 357 was previously owned and was slick as can be, I assume someone went through the process of smoothing it out...

My 16" and 24" Rossis worked right out of the box. My buddy bought one based on shooting mine. His works just fine too. Lots of happy R92 owners on the Rossi forum. Sorry for the issues some are having, maybe they're pre-2013 manufacture?

With any lever action I've always loaded a cartridge about halfway into the loading gate and pushed it on in with the next cartridge. My Rossi was an older Interarms with out the stupid safety. It was a little rough. You had to work the lever pretty hard but I filled the action up with white lithium grease and cycled it a few hundred times and after that it cycled rounds with one finger.
