Shame we don't get to see what the blade shapes are.
But, a cool artifact none the less.

Probably the blades didn't survive 150 years in salt water.

Water, of any kind, isn't easy on steel... I've spent a lot years dealing with that situation. Doubt any of my blades would even leave a trace if allowed to sit in water for the length of time that one did...

As an aside, if you're ever in the Hilton Head/Savannah area, a trip to the Hunley museum is well worth it.
